1962 Plymouth Fury Additional Info:
1962 Plymouth FuryVintage drag car. This car was bought here in Indianapolis from an estate sale.I have topped off the fluids changed the fuel filter, set the timing and the car runs and drives great. When I got the car home I started to do some research and found an old listing from when the car was for sale a few years ago. Here is what I found. This is an awesome 1962 Plymouth Sport Fury Golden Commando Power, as noted on the trunk trim. This is a vintage drag car that ran for years in the Southern Illinois area, was purchased and brought to Dyer, Indiana in 2005. Mostly used around here for car shows and the US30 Dragstrip Reunions. This car has a full roll cage and subframe connectors underneath. The motor is a 440 with 11 to 1 compression. Has the 915 heads, 509 camshaft. Edelbrock intake with an 800 CFM Edelbrock carburetor and a 7 quart oil pan. No exhaust, open headers. This engines runs strong! Mopar 727 transmission with a shift kit. Rear end is a posi Mopar. The body is very solid, but has a small amount of filler in the lower fenders and quarter panel areas. Body is painted a bright white, this is the way it was purchased. No cracks in the paint. Floors and trunk are solid. The interior compartment area by the drive shaft area is bent up evidently from a launched drive shaft at some point! Trunk mounted battery and a 10 gallon fuel cell in the trunk. This is an awesome vintage drag car. Please see the pictures with zoom to see the great condition this car is in. Mileage is unknown, 2500 was put in as a number is needed. Clear title.
I have checked over the car really wellandthere are acouple cracks in the paint here and there but nothing major. There is a small rust hole in the truck on the drivers side. The car has a full exhaust now with electric exhaust cutouts. The car sounds really strong. I snuck out on the roadlast nightand got on it just a bit and this old car still has it! All the lightsand turn signals work as they should. The only real issue with the car is the header on the drivers side has a crack so it has a smallexhaust leak and it will not start with the keyed ignition you have to jump the starter with the starter relay on the firewall.
The weather strip on the car is old looks original. The trim on the car is not show quality but looks to be all original. This is a very neat old drag car. Any questions or concerns just let me know. If you would like to view the car before the auction ends I am located on the southside of Indianapolis. I can hold the car if you need to arrange pickup as long as it has been paid in full. Cash or bank check. The bank check will be cashed before the car is picked up.Thanks!!
