This Panel Delivery has had an EXPENSIVE and extensive frame off the body ground up restoration and has been driven very little since being completed. It was done by a local restoration shop and any rust that was found was cut out and new metal was fabricated but there wasn't really that much rust, and the frame was completely powder coated. It retains its classic look but has a modern drivetrain which makes it a pleasure to drive !! I say VERY RARE because in the first place they only made 2,846 Panel Deliveries in 1940 and most of them were completely used up by the businesses that owned them, tell me have you ever seen one? At the heart of this BEAUTY is a STRONG - completely, professionally rebuilt 318 V8 motor that was purchased from a specialty engine builder in Spokane, Washington and is running VERY WELL indeed ! The motor is equipped with a Holley Street Warrior 600 CMF 4-barrel carburetor, custom chrome air cleaner housing/breather, Edelbrock 4-barrel intake manifold and factory style exhaust manifolds with a custom dual exhaust system. It is cooled with a Walker radiator and a thermostatically controlled cooling fan. The engine is backed by a Torqueflite three speed automatic transmission that also functions well. When the Panel was built, they put a new front clip on it with a Mustang ll independent front suspension (IFS) with rack & pinion power steering and power disc brakes on the front. Out back it has an 8-inch Ford rear end. All of the electrical wiring and fuses were re-done using a Painless brand wiring kit.
The custom Black and Gray interior is VERY NICE !! It was professionally done by a local custom upholstery shop where he custom fabricated each piece of the interior. Also included is a Factory Original 1940 Plymouth Panel delivery brochure shown in two of the pictures above. The Gunstock Gray exterior is EYE POPPING BEAUTIFUL !! with little to no wear showing as you can see in the pictures. This Panel Delivery is nicely equipped including power windows, power steering, power brakes with discs on the front, electric windshield wipers, turn signals, reclining front seats with seat belts and aftermarket gauge clusters. Like the rest of the car the chrome and stainless is BEAUTIFUL! Runs and drives GREAT... starts right up. I used to be in the Classic Car business but now I am retired. This Panel Delivery comes out of my personal collection and was hand-picked. I prefer a bank-to-bank wire transfer as payment but will also accept a bank check or a third-party check, but the funds must clear my account before the car or the title to the car is released to the buyer or the buyer's agent.
