1968 Plymouth roadrunner Additional Info:

1968 Plymouth Road Runner – Factory 426 HEMI, 4-Speed – Only 16,143 Original Miles – True Survivor!

Extremely rare opportunity to own one of the most iconic muscle cars ever built – a 1968 Plymouth Road Runner factory-equipped with the legendary 426 HEMI engine and 4-speed transmission. Only 108 of these HEMI/4-speed Road Runners were produced in 1968, and this one has survived in exceptional, unrestored condition with just 16,143 original miles!

This car is a true time capsule – largely untouched, unmolested, and retaining nearly all of its original parts, with a documented ownership history and long-term climate-controlled storage.

Vehicle History:
  • 1st Owner (Cedar Rapids, IA): Purchased new in 1968, drove it for fun and on nice weekends. Occasionally made trips between Cedar Rapids and Des Moines. Racked up about 15,000 miles before selling in 1972.

  • 2nd Owner: Bought it in 1972 and raced it lightly on weekends through 1977. After that, it was placed in climate-controlled storage, where it stayed untouched for an incredible 42 years – until I purchased it in 2020.

  • 3rd Owner (Me): In 2025, I took it out of storage and had it professionally serviced to get it running again. The goal was to preserve originality while ensuring it runs safely and reliably.

Mechanical Condition:
  • Engine: Original 426 HEMI was carefully brought back to life. Cylinders lubricated, fuel system flushed, and engine started without issue. Runs strong.

  • Maintenance Completed:

    • Oil and filter changed

    • New spark plugs, wires, and coil

    • Rebuilt carburetors

    • Driveline checked and confirmed solid

    • No known mechanical issues

  • Black hood with Six-Pack scoop(original hood included)

  • Currently header-dumped, but the original exhaust is included

  • Other than that, everything else is present and solid – a dream project for a purist.

  • Doors, trunk, windows, and hood all open and close smoothly – like a 16,000-mile car should
