1974 Plymouth Gran Fury Sport Suburban Wagon survivor with original factory paint in the color Sienna (metallic). Anyone that knows these cars, this year and model is nearly impossible to find especially in this kind of shape. However, the Westcoast and low miles was nice for this car. It runs, drives, stops, turn signal and brake lights works, etc. This is the top model for the C-Body full-size wagon by Plymouth that year with the 440 powerplant, air conditioning, AM/FM radio, and cruise control. A nice polish brought the original paint back to original splendor. However, the original wood decals were destroyed by the age and sun, and it damaged the paint underneath, so all paint under the wood was removed to the metal and repainted after removing the trim. From every indication the engine has never been out of this car. I replaced the factory Mopar ignition wires, and I installed some after-market valve covers on the engine as the originals were warped and leaking. I replaced the dry-rotted tires that had plenty of tread but dated from the mid-1990s. The body, trim, and glass are in very good shape and the front grill with no road rash. Interior-wise the seats are dry rotted, and the molded headliner is long gone. It’s pretty clear the car was parked in the sun a lot and was rough on the interior. I suspect this was not a family wagon as the rear seats are dry rotted but still look great. I suspect this was old man driven for occasional trip to the hardware store. The carpet was beyond cleaning, so I changed it to a quality aftermarket carpet. When I bought the car, the car doors were problematic in terms of opening and closing, so replacing the handles and linkage seemed to fix these issues and they all work well now. I have some videos of the engine running, the car driving, and the doors opening and closing properly. I should mention all the belts work except the driver’s seat belt. I never tested the A/C or cruise control, but I suspect they don’t work. The rear gate only works as a door but not as a gate. I have the linkage that should allow it to work as a gate, but don’t know how to fix it. The engine and transmission work very well, however it smokes for a couple minutes from the exhaust if you don’t start it for a while. I put a lot of time and money into this car and especially for the wood to be redone. It looks good as a survivor, but it would take much to completely restore it if you wanted to go that direction. I am located in Chicago’s northwest suburbs if you would like to test drive the wagon. Thanks for taking the time to read this!
