1970 Plymouth Superbird Tribute Additional Info:

1970 Superbird Tribute created from a 1970 RH23 Satellite. The Hemi engine was completely rebuilt (Atlanta Speed Shop) from the oil pan up with new pistons, hydraulic roller lifter cam and Hughes roller lifters. Edlebrock Rollin’Thunder cam: Intake duration: 262 Degrees - Exhaust duration: 266 Degrees -Intake lift: .628" - Exhaust lift: .608" - Lobe separation: 114Degree. Engine dynoed at 725HP with the Edlebrock Pro4 Dual quad sequential port fuel injection system (60lb injectors). The engine management system can be tuned from a phone app. The A833 transmission was rebuilt at the same time the engine was being done. Re-assembly included a 10.5 inch dual clutch and flywheel from McLeod w/pressure plate and flywheel. The drive train is matted to a Dana 60 rear end with 3.55 gears. The car is strong and powerful, when you push the button and the 3” exhaust opens….yeah, that happens. This car is FUN to drive. It is a replica of one of the most recognized and sought after collectable cars in the world. The 1970 Hemi Superbird. An original would cost triple if not more than the price of this car with the only obvious difference being the VIN#,(and of course the modern upgrades), and of course this car is built to be driven and enjoyed not placed in a climate-controlled collectors garage.

The body had a frame off rotisserie restoration 10 years ago and was driven less than 500 miles in those 10 years. It shows very well. The wing was put on with all the correct bracing and supports as was the metal nose. The nose has an electric motor for the hideaway headlights. The vinyl top looks brand new, I installed new carpet, seats (changed from a bench to bucket seats) and door panels,The DD Retrotech gauge system which keeps the original analog look but is completely digital looks and works flawlessly. Wipers, dome light, beep-beep horn, hideaway headlights, blinkers, flashers are all fully functional. The glass rolls up nicely on all four windows.The car comes with two sets of wheels, the classic slotted wheels seen in most of the pics but also a set of black rally wheels with a much more aggressive stance. The rear tires of the 2ndset are Mickey Thompson ET’s. Also included is a dual quad intake manifold with twin Edlebrock carburetors. This is the system that was replaced by the electronic fuel injection system.

The not so good.There are two cracks in the rear glass, one is about 3 inches near the center top and one is about 6 inches on the edge of the passenger side. The rear glass for this car is between 1500 and 2500$ when you can find it. A lot of people use plastic or Lexan because it’s considerably less expensive and more readily available. The cracks have not moved in the 3 years I’ve had the car which made them a low priority. Also, I just installed new ball joints and tie rods, so the front end needs alignment, nothing major but should be done. The car sits ‘up’ in the front because I have a 2 inch curb to get into my garage and the exhaust cutouts scraped, got deformed and had to be replaced, so to avoid this from happening again I just raised the car about an inch. This was accomplished by adjusting two ¾” bolts in the front suspension, simple.
