1964 Plymouth Other -- Additional Info:
Such a great mix of new and classic! This 1964 Plymouth Belvedere has a thoroughly authentic, sleeper style appearance that's sure to bring a smile to your face and proudly wears its original colors both inside and out. That level of visual originality is paired with a vital powerplant holding court underneath the hood, as well as a revamped interior you'll eagerly anticipate being surrounded by.
Quality workmanship leaves an abundance of clues. The vibrant coat of red paint this Belvedere is dressed in represents a skillful freshening of its original shade and carries a very appealing shine. All the necessary steps were taken before the first pull of the spray gun trigger, so the overall appearance here is first rate, with a thoroughly even texture and no signs of rust in sight. Their unique "slant-back" configurations during this 1964's era provided Belvederes with a singular profile, with a fairly level roofline pairing with a sharply angled rear window area that tapers as it meets the rear quarter panel to create a wide open, geometric space with the windows rolled down. The entire array of chrome this classic wears, including side trim that literally spans the length of the car and an ornate front grille, is in top-notch condition and the cabin is surrounded by clear glass.
The interior creatively blends elements of is original era with a few well-executed upgrades and really looks nice. The factory-issue red color is still represented but both the front buckets and rear bench seats now wear fresh leather covers that provide a level of luxury that would be out of reach in their original configuration. The door panels to each side have been thoroughly refurbished to match and a fresh expanse of carpet now lines the floor. Transmission swaps that relocate the shifter to the tunnel -such as the one this vintage Plymouth has undergone - require quite a bit of attention to detail to come out right, and the work has been skillfully performed here, so the white-balled lever now in place sits within easy reach of the driver. The original AM radio occupies its position at the center of the dash and, unlike so many of its counterparts, it's fully functional. Just below, an underdash climate control system has been added, and it's blowing strong and cold to keep things comfortable inside the cabin.
Beneath the hood is an engine compartment that's been exceptionally well-maintained, with a 383 cubic inch V8 at its center that's a member of a class of respected engines entrusted with providing ample power to countless Mopar products for decades. In this setting it's surrounded by freshly painted inner fenders and dressed in a matte black, properly badged air cleaner that contrasts nicely with the engine's cleanly painted block. With its 4-barrel carb perched on top, the engine only recently
took its place beneath the hood, along with the accompanying smooth shifting 4-speed manual transmission, so this is a very fresh drivetrain still at the absolute top of its abilities and an upgraded cooling system has also been added to keep operating temperatures under control. Power steering makes this classic easy to maneuver, while a quartet of power disc brakes are on board to bring the set of 15" color matched wheels wearing BF Goodrich T/A radials to prompt, fade resistant stops. Below, the undercarriage appears solid and well-positioned for plenty more years of enjoyment.
A top quality restoration blends with the outstanding drivability to make this 1964 Plymouth Belvedere a first class cruiser that's sure to turn heads on the boulevard. Call today!
