1971 Plymouth Barracuda Cuda Tribute Barracuda Additional Info:
It's time to sell my 1971 440 Six Pack Cuda Tribute. This car started life as an original TX9/TX9 Black on Black 318 Gran Coupe Barracuda. It was completely disassembled, body repaired and painted and a 440 was dropped in. But wait, it gets BETTER! The 440 was bored and stroked by Carolina Machine Works to 522 Ci with 10:1 compression 2 years ago. I then topped that off with some Trick Flow aluminum heads, full roller valve train, Edelbrock six pack setup, MSD-6a ignition and distributor, high volume oil pump with 8qt pan, high volume mechanical fuel pump, and replaced all the normal items such as water pump and so forth. I then replaced the Torq-flite 727 with a built A518 overdrive automatic (one of the best investments ever made) and a Compu-Shift electronic controller. Now you can cruise down the highway at 70+ MPH in comfort vice enduring a deafening roar. And of course, the rear is a 3.55 Dana 60. Every wire in the car is new. The car was a BEAST and a handful to drive when you get 'froggy', so I installed Wilwood disc brakes all the way around with Wilwood master cylinder. Then I put a front anti-sway bar on and frame connectors. It's now much more 'reassuring' to drive although it can still get you in trouble fast. The exhaust is Doug's long tube 2" headers into a dual 2.5" Magnaflow stainless exhaust. The interior is in excellent shape. No tears or fading and other than some holes put into the center console to mount something in the past, no real issues at all. It has an Ididit tilt steering column with touch start (no ignition key), restored rim blow steering wheel and ralley gages. I didn't cheese out on the stereo either while trying to keep it looking low keyed. The stereo is secret audio with subwoofer and amp in the trunk with 6x9's in the rear deck and 6" speakers in the kick panels.
I tried really hard to remember anything that doesn't work exactly as it should on the car and the only things I could come up with are that the trip odometer sticks at 111 miles and the passenger side driving light is burnt out, the one on the bumper.
The heater box has been removed (but will be in the trunk for whoever buys the car) as I don't drive the car in the winter. Currently, the MSD-6 box is mounted inside the car where the heater box was. The tires have much more than 75% tread on them as I only put about 1000 miles per year on the car going to car shows and cruising around the local area.
If you are looking for a numbers matching 1971 V code Cuda then you are looking in the wrong place and about half a million dollars too low. You won't find an original 1971 V code burnt out shell for less than 6 figures nor would I actually drive or modify an original. But if you want one that performs better and gets just as many gawks from other people, this is it! This is how I would have ordered the car in 1971 if I could go back in time.
The only reason I'm selling the car is that the kids are finally out of the house and the wife and I decided it's time to finally move to the lake. So I have too many toys and the classic cars are going.
If you purchase with the buy it now price, I will arrange and pay for open carrier shipping within the continental US and will include a large amount of original parts to the car (i.e. original steering column, standard dash, original jack, and a bunch of other odds and ends scattered throughout my garage). If not purchased with the buy it now, it's up to the buyer to arrange and pay for shipping and the only parts to go with the car will be the heater box. I will, obviously, support loading the car on a transport.
I of course HIGHLY encourage anyone to come and look at the car (located in Rochester, NH) or ask any questions. I am not a used car salesman and will totally up-front and honest about anything. I'm also not a haggler, so the reserve is my rock bottom. I have taken a series of 5 one minute videos showing the interior/starting the car/car running walk around/engine compartment/known paint flaws. If you would like me to send the videos, please just send me an e-mail address or cell number to text them to. EBay won't let me send videos via their messaging system. Due to travel, I may be slow answering questions before Oct 8th, but will get to them as I'm able.
The reserve is very low considering the going price for a 71 E-Body today and is basically just enough for me to pay off the car and credit card debt I still owe from building the car.
The videos do the car much more justice than the photos in the ad. The photos kind of make the car look dull or dirty (I think it was the shadows) and sorry about the finger in the shot. You can really see the shine and condition in the videos. This is the last time I'm listing the car for sale until next year as I don't have an immediate need to sell the car and it will go into storage for the winter.
$500 due upon winning bid/buy it now. Remainder must clear my bank prior to releasing the car and due within 14 days which can possibly be done via Paypal friends/family transfer for free.
