1965 Plymouth Belvedere Additional Info:

1965 Plymouth Belvedere

In 1963, the muscle car wars were raging, and engine power was everything. In January of that year, the Beach Boys recorded "Shut Down" a song about a drag race between a 1962 Super Stock 413 Dodge Max Wedge and a 1963 fuel-injected Corvette Stingray, and that pretty much summed up the action on American streets and strips for the era. Drag racing was the hot competition, and every American automaker wanted to win NHRA titles in the factory stock classes. No expense was too high to put muscle on the strip. That commitment led to some legendary low-production factory-built racing cars.

Starting out life as a mild mannered 318ci V8, this Belvedere has had a massive engine upgrade, and a red respray, along with some other goodies thrown in for good measure, and pure tire burning excitement. Now putting out a whopping 577 on dyno HP, this car is a handful, and should not be taken lightly.

Exterior
A red respray covers nicely straightened steel panels all around. Chrome and trim work is all good with few faults, even when studying it closely. A chrome and white painted spear runs the gamut on the sides and presents itself at the belt line, and does a beautiful job of breaking up the red steel slabs. A pristine front grille flanked by single headlights, and some Commando V8 snazzy badges, 15" Torque Thrust wheels polished beyond polishing, all add bling to this beautiful Belvedere. As they say two scoops are better than one, and the hood has the pleasure of sporting two.

Interior
Nearly perfect red bolsters surround burgundy tuck and roll-esque inserts on the front buckets, and rear bench. Streaking up the middle is a red vinyl and chromed center console, which is housing a B&M shifter, surrounded by shiny V shaped inlays, and topped by some aftermarket gauging to monitor crucial engine functions. Atop the blazing red and black inlayed dash and gauge cluster is a tachometer.

Drivetrain
Truly the money shot on this car, full specs are available, but in a nutshell a 426ci Max Wedge stroked to 484ci, and internally has an Erson Hydraulic Roller Camshaft with a .582 lift, all kept well-oiled by an external Mildon Oil system. Super Stealth heads hold the compression in, while an A&A crossroad Edelbrock Thunder AVS twin 4-barrel carbs keep the mill fed with a massive fossil and air mixture. An A-727 Torqueflite tranny with a TCI Frank Lupo Dynamic 3500 Stall converter, is noted. All this adds up to 577 Horses, and a Max Max Wedge. Consigner stated the Engine has barely 500 miles on it and it looks the part, and then some.

Undercarriage
An 8-3/4" 4.10 Posi rear (Easton True Trac) puts all that power out to the rear tires which are noted as 245/60R15's. Front Disc Wilwood 4 piston power disc brakes have been added and rear drums remain. Slightly sloppy on one torque box weld on, and the remaining have been bolted on. With all the horsepower, it could be problematic in the long run, but for now we will be content to just sit and spin!

A beautifully performed restoration with some massive power under the dual cowled hood in the form of a beefed up Max Wedge, really nice interior looking just like the original would have looked, but now in red/burgundy, and some good brakes which are certainly important when you've got 577 Horsepower in front of you. Smoke em if ya got em!
