1964 Belvedere Post car. Hard to find body style. This car appears to be all original inside and out. This would be a great candidate for a Max Wedge Clone, nice V-8 swap street Muscle Car, or fix the body and drive as is with the original drive train. This is a great running and driving car. I purchased it with intentions of fixing or replacing the right damaged quarter panel and other lower rust areas, but I have too many cars and some have to go. Other than a couple of areas below the side moldings that look like someone sprayed a little touch up in the middle of the passenger door, this car appears to have all of its original paint. Any rust issues you see in the pictures will be the extent of it. You will not find any "surprises" under any old bodywork, because it has not had any previous repairs done to it. This was in an indoor storage unit for several years. The only thing I have done to this car since I have owned it was to paint the rims and purchase a lower rear Quarter panel section.
BODY: Right quarter panel is in bad shape. It was hit down low behind the wheel. It also caused the quarter panel to buckle up higher above the wheel. It pushed in the inner wheel well area also. Someone attempted to push it out somewhat, but it needs much more work. The Quarter panel molding is NOT damaged. I purchased a lower rear Quarter panel section that comes with the car. I have found out now that Summit Racing sells the whole quarter panel. Part number is 7001463R. Left Quarter has some rust down low. Both front fender heels have holes. Right front fender has a dent in the heel, at the wheel opening area - see picture. Rocker panels and doors are very solid. All of the body side chrome trim is in very good condition. Grill is very nice. Tail light chrome has some usual pitting starting but not terrible. Bumpers are straight and chrome on them is driver quality. Vent window, rear window and windshield chrome is very nice. Trunk lock is missing and the mirror on the driver’s door is pitted and missing the glass. Door and trunk weatherstrips are still in good original condition.
UNDERCARRIAGE: Sub frame, floors, inner rockers, trunk area and all supports are solid.
DRIVETRAIN: Original Slant Six with the Push Button Automatic. Everything under the hood is intact as came from the factory - aside from the usual tune up parts and filters - and the motor and transmission run and operate perfectly smooth and quiet. Brakes are smooth and stop very well. Tires are good; one is a little worn on the inside. Exhaust is solid and quiet.
ELECTRICAL: All wiring looks to be intact under the hood and under the dash - nothing hacked or cut! Headlights, bright lights, blinkers, dash lights and gauges all work with exception of the gas gauge. Wipers and all heater controls work, even the factory radio still sounds good.
GLASS, INTERIOR: Glass is all in excellent condition. Unusually nice ORIGINAL interior. Carpet is dirty. Front seat has some separation - reparable. Headliner has 2 small holes in it that could probably be repaired - the rest of the headliner is very nice. Visors - very good. Pedal pads - very good. Rear seat and package shelf - excellent. All inner door panels are unusually nice and flat (even at the bottom of the doors) and in excellent condition. The dash, all gauges, bezels, push buttons, heater controls, radio, Belvedere emblem, steering wheel, horn button, etc. all look like new, even the factory red dash paint is near perfect.
As you can see, other than the bodywork needed, this car will not nickel and dime you to death with all the stuff that is often overlooked when restoring a car. This is a very solid and almost 100% complete car that runs and drives excellent and does not need much money spent on cosmetics to bring it up to e really nice hard to find 64 Post Car.
If you have any questions, please ask. Car is located in Lake County, which is in Northeast Ohio, 44095. I have the car for sale locally and reserve the right to end this auction early if the reserve price is not first met. Thanks, John 440-342-2379.
