1964 Plymouth Belvedere Additional Info:
HELLO. THIS AUCTION IS FOR A 1964 PLYMOUTH BELVEDERE 2DR. THIS CAR STARTED LIFE AS A LARGE 318ci CAR WITH PUSH BUTTON AUTOMATIC. THE POTENTIAL OF THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS IMMENSE. ALL THE GLASS WAS GOOD UNTIL SOME OF THE NEIGHBORS KIDS DECIDED TO GO BIRD HUNTING AROUND IT AND MISSED THE BIRDS APPARENTLY AND HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHICH OVER TIME RUN A SPLIT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE.
THIS VEHICLE GOT UPGRADED BY ME TO CARRY A BIG BLOCK BY INSTALLING A TRANSMISSION FROM A 1965 CAR. THIS MADE IT POSSIBLE TO RUN A CONVENTIONAL AND MORE AVAILABLE SLIP SPLINE DRIVE SHAFT. THE REAR END WAS REPLACED WITH ONE FROM A 1968 ROAD RUNNER WHICH ELIMINATED THAT WEIRD AXLE/BRAKE ASSEMBLY WITH THE BIG SPINDLE TYPE NUT. THIS MADE THE CAR MORE LIKE THE VEHICLES OF THE LATER 1960'S WHILE STILL RETAINING THE PUSH BUTTON TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOLD BY A TRANSMISSION REPAIRMAN THAT YOU CAN CHANGE OUT THE INPUT SHAFT WITH THAT OF A LATER MODEL AND WOULD THEN BE ABLE TO RUN STALL CONVERTORS MORE COMMON FOR THE 727 TRANS. THE INPUT SPLINES WERE COARSE ON THE OLDER UNITS OR MAYBE THE OTHER WAY AROUND. WITH A BLOWN 440 ON THE STREET I FIGURED I DIDN'T NEED MUCH STALL ANYWAY.
THIS VEHICLE COULD MAKE A GREAT PROJECT FOR A HOT STREET PERFORMER. IT'S GOT A LOT OF THE RIGHT STUFF. THE MOTOR IS A .030 OVER 440 WITH A STEEL CRANK, DUAL KEY WAYS, FLOATED FORGED PISTONS, SOLID CAMSHAFT WITH .550 LIFT. THE HEADS RECEIVED BRONZE GUIDES AND STAINLESS VALVES. COMPRESSION WAS SET TO 8.5-1. THE BLOWER IS A REBUILT NO SERIOUS GOUGES STOCK 6/71 HAND POLISHED. THE DRIVE SETUP WAS COMPLIMENTS OF BDS AS WELL AS END PLATES AND CARB ADAPTERS, ETC. THE CARBS ARE MODIFIED 750 HOLLEYS. THE ENGINE HAS 2" HEADERS CONNECTING TO FABRICATED 3" EXHAUST WITH X PIPE.
THIS VEHICLE PROJECT WAS NEVER COMPLETED, AND AS WITH MY OTHER PROJECTS A SHAME THAT THEY ARE NOT. ALL THE ORIGINAL STUFF LIKE THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, REAR AXLE/BANJO ARE STILL HERE IF SOMEONE WANTED TO BUILD THIS CAR BACK TO IT'S ORIGINAL STATE. SHOULD IT NOT SALE AND YOU HAVE AN INTEREST DON'T HESITATE TO INQUIRE.
THANKS FOR LOOKING IN.
