An older restoration - chomping at the bit to hit the road again.
Previous owner recently passed away, having finished the restorationseveral years back in great detail. There are no family members to recall exact specifics, so many things are hard to validate. Gallery of pictures that go with auction showed several stages of his restoration process. **No Proof**- but most likely the engine was gone through. We see a new brass head gasket, can see that oil pan has been off and replaced etc. etc.
The undercarriage in several photos show cleaned and painted. The following is a list of new and NOS items he has used in his efforts to restore the car to its current condition.
New chrome bumpers & bumper quards, new hood ornament, new hood emblem, new tail lights/bezels, new parking lights/bezels, newchromehead light bezels, new trunk handle, new hub caps, new tires, brakes and hardware, new gas tank, new jack, remote oil filter unit. New paint, new complete interior, new windshield. Almost all the stainless sidetrim, & the grille work appear new. The car has a new battery and starts & idles very well. New belts & hoses. New wide white wall tires - however now may or may not be serviceable. Runs & drives but currently brakes need bled. (pedal goes to all way down). Emergency brake operates fine.
The car now needs TLC and most importantly a new paint job if so desired,as the lacquer paint is showing it age and checkering in some areas. Primer has been applied on some of the areas. Driver & passenger door glass do have cracks. All other glass is excellent. I have provided plenty of photos to help represent the car. Interior of car was done professionally and the embroidered Plymouth logo on rear upper seat cushion is a nice touch.
This car would make an excellent entry level car for that young person looking to get into the vintage car market. Its rarity says you may have the only one at the next cruise-in or car show. Great investment opportunity !!!
He restored what looks like a very straight rust free carto begin with. Doors, hood & trunkclose easily.Windows operate smoothly. The car has several nice options. It has fender skirts, tinted glass all around, Motorola radio/speaker, deluxe heater, dual horns, windshield washer system. The really rare / unusual option attached to the steeting column is an add on cigarette dispenser. Never seen one before. Car comes with a Service manual & Parts book for your future references. Note: liscense plates on car are not a part of the auction.
I don't know where you can find a 53' Plymouth 2 DR Hardtop this nice to either drive or take to the next level.
A rare classic with potential to make a fine show car.
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions as I will respond asap.
