1950 Packard Super Eight Deluxe Convertible. Exceptionally rare and well preserved 23rd Series Packard. Chassis number 23 79-53102 and engine number H411705F with 81,000 original miles on the clock. This is a two family owned car from new with second owner since 1960. It is equipped with Ultra-Matic drive automatic transmission and is one of only 1285 built (about half of which were standards) and one of less than 15 in the registry currently.Packard offered three convertible models in 1950 which heralded the end of the 'Golden Anniversary' celebration, the Custom, the Deluxe and the Super Deluxe Eight. The Super Deluxe offered the sought after trim of the Custom coupled with the more reliable and collectible 327 Ci inline eight cylinder engine. The car was purchased from the first owner in 1960 by the second owner. When that owner passed away, his brother inherited it and parked in a dry under-house garage in 1975. We pulled the car out of late last year from his estate. It is absolutelystunning and presented in the rare blue color paired with the red leather interior in awesome overall condition and is very close to exactly what was delivered by Packard in 1950. Only some very minor paintwork touch up and a professional and accurate recover of the front seat keep this car from 100% originality.Mechanically it has been completely serviced within the last six months with all new brakes, tires, carburetor rebuild, gas tank flush and cleaning and hydraulictop components all rebuilt and all new window parts including new hydrauliclifters. A new canvas top has been fitted and a new top boot has also been fitted to the car. The power top works perfectly. It runs and drives very smoothly and nicely. It is very reliable. It starts incredibly easily. It has no rust anywhere and no rust or accident repair ever. The underside and trunk are both solid and clean.Overall, the paint is very nice with some wear through on the original paint (from polishing) on the tops of the doors (see pics). All of the chrome on the car is in amazing original and beautifulcondition. The chrome wire wheels are the period original wheels with original cloisonne Packard emblems on the center caps.Besides the wire wheels, the car is loaded with original factory accessories including: dual Packard script windshield spotlights, original Trippe driving lights, rare Packard authorized rear windshield, Packard AM radio and a genuine Packard compass. All installed on the car either at the factory or when brand new at the selling dealership.I took it from the estate of a gentleman in Indiana who's brother bought it from the original owner in 1960. Not many convertibles of this model were made let alone in this color combination.I encourage anyone to come inspect the car. It is not a show car/trailer queen by any means but one of the most honest, original and robust Packards I've run across in many years and I have had the good fortune of owning a lot of Packards over the years. It would be welcome in many major shows as a preservation entrant. It drives like a car that has never been taken apart. It is smooth, comfortable and rattle free. I have personally put several hundred miles on it driving it locally and taking it to a few cruise-ins prior to my deciding to sell it.I have priced it fairly and ready to send it on to only its third registered owner (I am a dealer). I have many more pictures and can send a cold start video to anyone who asks. The car is located in Orance, CT and inspections are invited and welcomed. I can be reached at 860-883-3998 any time. Many thanks and good luck. John
