1953 Packard Clipper DeLuxe Additional Info:

I used to be in the restoration hobby and I acquired a 53 Caribbean. I thought that having a clean running Clipper would be a good thing to have as a companion to the Caribbean. I bought this car out of Phoenix AZ where it was restored, and brought it to Denver. There was some paperwork with the car leading me to believe that it was originally from Denver, and it had come home. Its been in Northern NY for the last 2 years.
I have not used the car very much. Just short hops on occasion. It runs shifts, and stops great. Though the battery may be running down, and maybe the generator too, as it ran down when I took her out for pics. It has an electric fuel pump mounted alongside the frame under the driver seat. The sound from it is a little annoying, but you get used to it. The car will get up and roll out smoothly at 55, but there are some worn bushings on the stabilizer bar, so I dont push over that. The front end should be checked out, if you are driving a lot. The tires are nicely treaded, but older and some light sidewall crackle. the paint is still pretty good, except the roof is fading, and the trim clips have bled some rust out on the drivers door and fender. All trim is there and nice. Front bumper and grill are starting to show a small amount of rust. Some of the pot metal is pitting, most notably the right door handle. The interior is very nice...so nice that I really can't tell if it s original or redone. The dash is original as evidenced by the factory sticker at the ignition switch. The steering wheel is beautiful and has a silky smooth new-car tactile feel. Car is super solid. There is a small rust spot just over the right front turn signal, at the edge of the grille. After examining a parts fender, deduced that this is where the inner fender is welded to the outer fender on the back side. It probably created a moisture trap at the weld/seam area. Its an easy are to get to just by removing the grille. Will make a great cruiser or a nice showpiece. You can drive as is or pretty it up some more.

I have grown quite fond of this car, but I really don't use it much. I have several more cars that need finishing, and since moving from Denver, I have lost my big garage and need to put cars into commercial storage. I'd like to find a good home for this car where it will be cared for and preserved into the future. If not sold, she goes back into storage next month.

The mileage shown could be original considering the condition of the interior. I loosely fit the grille ears on in some of the pics. I had them off for a while while I had hung a 51 grille on just for some toothy fun. I misplaced the mounting screws. Pics with the toothy grill, and the pretty gal are a few years old. All other pics are August 2023.
