1954 Packard Henney Jr Ambulance Additional Info:
Have you ever seen a 1954 Packard Henny Jr. Ambulance? They're super rare, especially one in as nice of condition as this one. For two years starting in 1953 Packard, in collaboration with Henney, manufactured the "Junior", a smaller, lower cost unit used primarily for ambulances and Hearses. It was built with many pieces and parts from the Packard Clipper automobile. At that time the standard Professional units had a 156" wheelbase; the Junior was shorter, with a 127" wheelbase. This new size made it useful in professional services but easier to navigate and could fit in a standard sized garage.
They built just 500 of these units because Henney found that the Junior's production costs were higher than the selling price causing a $300 loss on every unit. Because of the loss, Henney/Packard raised the price of the Junior midway from $3,333 to $4,333, which increased profits per unit but sales fell dramatically.
This unit is in beautiful condition. The newer paint, updated interior and brilliant chrome makes this a great museum piece or just a great car to own and enjoy. The lights and siren are still working. The interior is adorned with red and white vinyl throughout complete with cabinets and a real working gurney. a 327 Packard straight 8 and paired with a Packard Ultramatic Automatic Transmission makes it easy and fun to drive. Make this the next Packard in your collection. It is certainly going to turn heads wherever it goes.
