Custom 1936 Packard Dual Cowl Phaeton for sale at no reserve.
This is a full disclosure no reserve listing. I am listing this car for a long time customer of mine. It is a 1401 Dietrich dual cowl on a 134 3/8"” wheel base. The Dietrich tag on the right side front floor reads 911 9003. The large stamping in the center top of the firewall reads < 219366 >. The car was first sold at Berry Motor Cars in St. Louis with a build date of 9/21/35.
The current owner has had the car since 1999. There are ownership notes back to 1954. I have been the servicing company, (Spencer Restorations), for the owner on this and his other collector cars since the 1990s and service and restoration documentation is included in the sale.
The car has a Standard 8 cylinder engine that was rebuilt/blueprinted in 2014 with all new parts and no expense spared. It runs superbly. It is smooth, quiet and powerful. The transmission is a manual 3 speed running through a 4:41 differential. I have rebuilt the transmission, generator, water pump, fuel pump, distributor, starter, carburettor, brakes, wheel bearings, Bijur system, exhaust and much more. The Stayfast convertible top is recent and in excellent condition. At the time the top was done the side curtains were as well. The paint has some areas on the rear that show alagatoring bellow the surface. There is a small burp in the rear cowl from a too long fastener used at some time. There are a few touched up chips. Otherwise the paint is very, very good with no areas of overspray, bubbling or dulling. Please refer to the enclosed pictures. The interior is excellent and is leather. The car has no rust beyond some light surface coloration on some areas of the underside. The sill plates show some use. Please examine the pictures and ask if you need more views of specific areas.
This car has been used for tours, shows and getting ice cream with the grand kids and has won multiple awards. All work and materials are of top quality. Indicated milage is 06967 miles. This car is equipped with:
Recovered side curtains/frames
Dual side mount spare tires and covers
A 3rd spare wheel and tire (7 total mounted wheels/tires)
Ride control
Dual Trippe lights
Dual spot lights
Dual wind wings
Dual side mount rear view mirrors
Removable accessory rear steel trunk in matching color
Radio
Heater
White walls
Oil filled front bumper dampers
Special fabricated stock looking housing with replaceable cartridge oil filter
Battery master kill switch under hood on starter
Electric fuel pump
The car has always gotten what it has needed and any work that I recommended to the owner. The top frame has been re-chromed and assembled withannealedstainless steel rivets. The bumpers, bumper ends, mounting caps and the radiator face and slats have also beenreplated. All the wide white wall tires are near new and are dated 2014 on chrome wire wheels except for the spares which are older but in good order. There is an unmounted, partial overdrive system included in the sale as well as some single stage exterior paint.
This car is located in N.E. Massachusetts and has been continuously registered and used by the current owner. Please ask any questions and I will respond. We will assist in shipping and or delivery.
