Long known in the hobby as William Brewsters Personal car, this 4-43 was delivered to Brewster Coachworks and its chassis was shortened 7" to better accept the unusual short coupled Limousine Body. The car was passed by Mr Brewster to a Monsignor on Long Island before being acquired by a noted Collector who kept the car many years and had it sensitively restored- it still sports many original features- before passing it on to the current caretaker who has had the car for many years as well. While an older restoration the car remains in exceptional condition with no nicks, paint chips or other signs of misuse- This car really needs nothing to be shown competitively even by today's standards.
Of particular note is the very unusual reserve sweep of the Windshield, the elegant narrow pillars, accentuated by pinstriping, which continues down to the lower portion of the body giving the car an imposing presence. Standing tall on Disc Wheels, the car sports drum headlights, Dual Side Mounts, and correct Trunk. The exposed Skeleton Wood Trim of the interior perfectly ties the compartments together and provides an interesting visual that makes the car feel as unique when one is inside it, as it does when one is standing next to it. The car sports an unusual amount of ventilation- there are roof vents for both the driver and passengers, the windshield has interesting movable pieces, and there is of course the cowl vent as well. The adjustable pull shade Sun visor is truly unique.
This car is a tour de force of the Coachbuilders craft, and is a testament to the expertise and skill of The Brewster Coachworks- One of the Finest Coachbuilders of all time.
This one off car is really without peer.
