1956 Packard CARIBBEAN Additional Info:

I STARTED THIS RESTORATION 30 YEARS AGO. IT WAS TOTALLY DISASSEMBLED ANDTAKEN OFF THE FRAME FOR PAINT. IT SAT IN MY GARAGE ALL THESE YEARS WHILE I WORKED ON OTHER PROJECTS. NOW, I'M TRYING TO OPEN UP SOME SPACE IN MY GARAGE AND JUST DON'T FEEL ABLE TO DO THE WORK NECESSARY TO FINISH THIS VERY WORTHY CAR. I HAVE ALL THE PARTS. THE FRONT FENDERS, DOORS, TRUNK LID AND HOOD WERE CHEMICALLY STRIPPED, PRIMED AND PAINTED INSIDE AND OUT. THE SEATS WERE REUPHOLSTERED WHEN I GOT THE CAR AND THEY'RE STILL MINT - GENUINE LEATHER AND A MATERIAL ON THE REVERSE SIDE THAT RESEMBLES THE ORIGINAL. THIS CAR WAS NEARLY RUST FREE. IT HAD BEEN COATED WITH COSMOLINE UNDERNEATH. THE HEADLIGHT HOODS, ROCKERS, DOG LEGS, FLOOR AND ALL THE TYPICAL RUST AREAS WERE ABSOLUTELY RUST FREE. I HAVE MANY PICTURES OF THE RESTORATION. THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT MANY YEARS AGO AND NOW WILL NOT SPIN WITH A BREAKER BAR. THE TRANS WAS REBUILT BUT MAY NEED TO BE OPENED UP AND CHECKED. THE LAQUER PAINT HAS CHECKED ON ONE SIDE. MOST CHROME IS RECHROMED OR NOS. I HAVE A NEW HEADLINER. EQUIPPED WITH FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING, POWER WINDOWS, BRAKES, SEAT, STEERING AND REAR ANTENNAS. WORTH WAY MORE THAN MY RESERVE (WHICH IS ABOUT HALF WHAT I HAVE IN IT) IN PARTS ALONE. TRADE POSSIBLE. PLEASE EMAIL WITH ?S. THANKS.

After reviewing my photos of the restoration and jogging my aging memory, I wanted to add the following: This is an AMBITIOUS project, which is why I'm selling it (my ambition is waning). All the glass is out of the car, the interior is out of the car, the dash is out of the car, there are parts all over my garage in boxes, bags, etc. The top was replaced during the restoration due to the original Hypalon material holding in water. The original top padding is in a bag to use as a pattern for replacement. There is no exhaust or carpet. I have the double 4 barrel carburetor manifold (one hold down holehas been repaired - not noticeable from the top. I have the batwing top of theair cleaner and 2 "pots" for the bottom of the batwing which will have to be altered to fit. They are not the original parts. I have two original Rochester carbs - rebuilt. Some of the linkage will have to be made - not too difficult, just threaded rod. The car came with one carb - had been converted as many of them were to save gas. I have an original dash top with holes for ac - will have to be repadded and reattached to the dash. The door panels are done as original - very nice. The door tops, vent window frames, bumpers, bumperettes, headlight hoods and grille top are rechromed. Side light trim and some of the fender skirt trim is NOS. The chrome alone is worth the reserve price on the car. Some of the stainless will have to be buffed. Brake shoes, cylinders and shoes are new, drums have been turned - system is dry. Booster, master cylinder and switch will have to be installed - obviously, no brakes now. Tires are still holding air after 30 years, but obviously can't be used. I have quite a few parts I've accumulated over the years which will be included - I won't know exactly what until I dig everything out. It'll take some time to sort through everything -I've hada 1955 Caribbean convertible for 46 years (with similar parts) - that one I'm keeping. I'm sure I've forgotten something. I've restored several other cars since I've had this one. If you have any specific questions, I'll do my best to answer them promptly and honestly. I want the car to go to someone who will finish my original dream. The car would be a real showpiece when finished.
