Please Note: There is no "Free Shipping" on this car. The ebay listing has this in it's format, but it does not show up in the "Edit" mode, and I have not been able to change it. The buyer of this car is responsible for either picking it up, or the costs of shipping it.
What a rare find, an approximately 95% complete, 1929 Packard Four Door Sedan, Model 626. . Almost in the same condition as when it was pulled out of a barn 20 years ago. With original dual side- mounts, this is one stylish looking car. The smallest of the Packards offered that year, with a wheel base of 126inches. Still a large and impressive automobile.
This car is in very solid condition, ready for restoration. Approximately 90 % of the parts that needed re-chroming, have been done several years ago, by Alberta Plating in Canada, at a cost of around $2,300.00.
What this car is missing is it’s original top material, upholstery, seat springs, all the flat window glass, some floorboard material, one of the spare tire chrome mounting discs, rear view mirror, and it’s original gas tank. ( A“new “ tank was made for it many years ago, functional, but not the best if you intend to restore this car.) The hood ornament was re-chromed but the plating is beginning to blister and fail.
All of the other body parts are there, including a trunk, front lower cowling and engine dust pans, all with surface rust. Even the aluminum rain channeling for the top is with it. The only rusted through areas are at the base of the front seat, and as few places in the flooring. The body panels, bottom of the doors and cowling are in excellent shape. The wood in the doors and door posts, is solid, but will possibly need to re-glued. They still fit nicely with even gap spacing all the way around. The top bows are weathered, and should be used as patterns. The front windshield header is also very weathered, and would need to be replaced. Yes, it has some dings, bends and dents, but you will be hard pressed to locate another car, of this type, that has a body with this much good wood and sheet metal to work with.
Has one complete set of head lights, and another partial set, with 6 original glass lenses. Re-chromed side parking lights with two more extra lenses. Even the original dome light, door handles, and window regulator handles are still there but have not been re-chromed.
The engine is original, with a notation written on the firewall that states “New Block Pistons Rings 56,000 Miles, 8-10-35” We have not attempted to start it, but the engine is free and does turn over by had with it’s original accessory hand crank. I can not verify how many miles are on this car originally. We have all the gauges, and a spare speedometer and clock for the dash.
Take a look at the photos. If you don’t see something that you think should be there, call or email me and I will confirm if we have it or not.
The car is located in Emmett, Idaho. Clear title in hand. It would be nice to have the Packard removed from my garage within 4 weeks of the close of the auction.
