This is a wonderful full classic Packard from 1931.
It is located in Southern California.
The car was originally sold in Seattle Washington and has been on the West Coast for most of its life.
It did have a trip to New York a number of years back to a collector there that just stored it for years
but now it is back in California.
It is a very attractive body style and is a wonderful choice for those that don't want the normal stodgy sedan
but want room for passengers in the back seat. They called this one the 5 passenger coupe.
This particular example with the solid disc wheels and single sidemount spare
is a very unique combination. I have yet to see another one set up just like this.
The car is really a good looker.
It is an older restoration and it is showing its age on the exterior, but it still just oozes class.
There is nothing quite like a Packard.
The interior is really nice on the car with nice upholstery in the proper materials and stitch patterns.
Door panels look great.
The dash is all original and unrestored
Steering wheel is in great shape as are the control knobs and such.
The headliner and sun visors are the original material!
There is a wonderful feeling of originality to this car.
I really do not think it has ever been pulled apart or really messed with.
It looks like the exterior was re-sprayed once, the seats and panels redone at some point
and I would imagine some chrome re-plated as well...but it has the look and feeling of a well preserved original car.

The original window shades are all still present...they are aged and brittle...but they are here!
The rear windows roll down in this model which is wonderful for the back seat passengers
as well as some good flow-through ventilation.
I found this vintage advertisement clip at an antique store locally... it just seemed like it should
be here with the car.

The wheel detail is awesome on this car, the chrome lock ring and hub really add some style
as do the red details.

(but don't tell my 32 or 34 I said that...I don't want them getting jealous)

These really are spectacular cars. The quality and finish level is top notch.
The Packard was no normal transportation tool for folks...these were high end
automobiles for wealthy owners that wanted the best.
My father was a Packard man and I grew up around them.
While I went off and played with other brands and much newer machines for many years
I have recently really embraced these cars and now fully understand my fathers fascination
with them. They are beautiful, they are classy beyond anything on the road today
and they are a delight to drive. As a result I have gone a little wild with them and currently
have 5 Packards under my care...its just a bit too much, so the 31 has got to go to the next home.
If I were Leno...I would just keep em all...
But sadly...Im no Jay.

Suspension is pretty clean on this car.
Grille and radiator shell in nice shape
Running boards are really nice (a little dirty...but the rubber is good)
The side step accessory is a nice touch as well

Windshield tips out for a nice breeze.
Here in this pic you can see perhaps the worst part of the paint...it has cracked up quite a bit on the cowl
and is flaking off in spots. All around the body there are flaws in the paint. If you are after a concours level car...this is not it
but the patina the paint has is really charming in my opinion...I would never paint it myself...I like that it shows a little
history to it, yet is still a very attractive car that draws the crowds and admiring stares everywhere it goes.
The original flat head straight 8 engine is a good runner.
I have not put a ton of miles on it, but it does run and drive well
and there are no odd noises or issues. It is a little cold blooded as many of these old cars are
but once it is warm she is good to go.
I would perhaps suggest a fresh fluid change and maybe tune up and adjust before putting it into heavy use
just so you know that all is as good as it can get. Ive only run it short distances but it rolls through all gears
nicely and the brakes, clutch and steering all seem solid.

All the major components seem original to this car.
It is common for the numbers to vary from each other ...they never all matched up perfectly
but as you can see they all line up well for the era and I believe them to be all the original parts.

The best flow of all the closed body styles in my opinion.

I have an original trunk for the back as well...its a little rough, but it is the real deal and I will be happy to include it if desired.
Proper lights all in place.
Look at those body lines...just wonderful art and design.
Interior is sharp...minor wear on the carpet, but thats about it.
A "parking cap" is included... you can pull off the valuable mascot and pop this in place for parking
or storage...less of the theft magnet that way. I remember my father
would always remove the mascot from his 34 and bring it with him into the restaurant when we would take the car out to dinner.
(I always thought he should ask the waiter for a small plate of snacks for it...)
The original grab pulls have come loose at the top, but are in great shape otherwise.
This would assist back seat passengers in getting out of the car
and the intricate design is mirrored in miniature for the pulls for the window shades in back.
Wood ash tray is a nice detail as well
Front seats tip forward for easy access to the back seat.

Needs perhaps a little cleaning in the back here, but it is still in nice shape.
Its funny about the New York plates.
When the previous owner bought the car out of California and had it shipped to the "Big Apple"
he titled it there and such, but never removed the California plates.
The car currently has a New York transferrable registration.
A California title can be obtained if desired.
Body is very straight and solid.

Im just plain out of space and with winter on the way there are cars outside that I would love to put under the roof
to protect them. Im sad to see it go, but I knew it would have to be eventually.
I hope it finds a good home with someone that will really use and enjoy it.

Ive set the reserve at a silly-low level so it sells the first time through.
