"1974 Mk III Jensen Interceptor for sale:
I won’t bore you with the history of this car because if you are reading this you know what you are looking at. Need to sell as I just don’t have the electrical expertise or time to put this lovely car (and dream of mine) back together. I will give you an honest overview of the car and some of the various spares that I have, due to squirrelling away things over the years. I have duplicates and sometime triplicates of things– I’m ideally looking to sell the lot and not split it up. The only thing that this car does not have is the flywheel – yes the guy I entrusted with the car to get the electrical sorted lost it, plus gave me the car back in a worst condition than when I handed it over to him! The dashboard has been reconditioned and is loosely in place right now. The instruments all worked when car was running prior to engine out, clock might be iffy?.
Car itself, solid and basically rust free and no previous signs of welding haven taken place. I have all the inner wheel arch splash panels to go back on the car. The back of the car has got a couple of dings, and the passenger door has had a sad case of an industrial garbage truck thrashing, see pictures but crease line is still good.. All doors close nicely with a clunk, and shut lines are good. Windows opened and closed when I first got the car, so they should work when all is put back together. Windscreen wiper motor will need installing (and it was this that started the engine removal!). The car will need putting back together and I would suggest that unless you are a wiz on electrics (this was my nemesis) then buy some new wiring looms for engine bay and dash, and be done with it, as on reflection this is what I should have done years ago, but I was talked out of it by "Mr ‘x’ I lost your flywheel garage owner smoothie".
The car was originally sold at legendary Hollywood Sports Car dealership in Hollywood and I believe that the car has never been out of California but off the road, hence new plates [MY74440]– I have the original car manual plus others – see pictures. I have receipts and bills going back to 1977 where you can clearly see the historical ownership. Car has 77,000 on the speedo and I see no reason why this is not correct going by all the receipts but cannot guarantee it.Possibly three owners including myself
I have over 12K into this car and we all know how much they have gone up in value over the past 3-4 years – I’m not greedy just want to see what I can realize from this broken dream L and I don’t want to break the car up for parts which people appear to be asking silly prices for on e-bay. I will set a mental reserve price and please don’t call me up and ask me what it is.
Some of the additional parts I have were off a same year car, same color as well and that particular car is now being used as a drag racer (great guy though)!
