My introduction to my love of brass era automobiles (late 1890s thru 1915) came from a mentor of mine named Bob Smith. His automobile history spans some sixty plus years which is a testimony to his knowledge and love of automobiles.
Looking for another project, I visited an old friend who recently owned a 1909 Hupmobile Runabut and had just got it back to a basic running condition, and was ready to pass it on to the next enthusiast, who happened to be me.
When I took possession of the 1909 Runabout, I quickly realized that she need a big makeover: fenders, seat, windshield, gas tank, period brass headlights, taillights, and horn. In addition it needed some woodwork repaired, or replaced.
For me, the highlight of this Project was the fabricating a front fender from scratch, which I am happy to say turned rather well as seen in the attached pictures.
Mechanically, she runs good, but can be temperamental, especially for me, thus, the next owner can take her to the next level.
