1978 Other Makes KG Farfadet Additional Info:
Vintage motoring in a reliable package: The KG Farfadet.
Constructed in England from a Citroen Dyane and affectionately known as 'Bertie' amongst the Citroen Specials Club in the UK, this roadster is a one-off and has the classic air of a vintage three wheeler without attempting to be a Morgan copy. As opposed to the glassfibre Lomax, this car features aluminium panels over a wood frame and sits on a galvanised chassis. The car is fitted with the 2CV's latter motor of 602cc capacity and equipped with the disc brake gearbox. Mechanically and - for the most part - component wise, the car uses standard Citroen 2CV parts: obtaining service items is straight-foward. The interior features a wood fascia, centre gauge cluster, map light, and a vinyl seat with seat belts. There is a small storage section behind the seat-back. A Harley Davidson luggage rack has been fitted for use on long trips. Being English, the car is right hand drive. With the approximate weight of 900 lbs, the KG Farfadet gives lively performance and exceptional economy.
I imported the car in 2009 through the Port of Baltimore. The Farfadet has been regularly driven throughout the Northeast and received awards at the Carlisle Import Show (Carlisle, PA) and The British Invasion (Stowe, VT). Note that the car has been driven to these shows - the KG is not a concours showpiece but rather a regular driver with a nicely worn appearance to it. To maintain this look, I will even include an extra jar of genuine English Patina with the sale. With its hybrid heritage, the KG is welcomed at English cars shows, Citroen meets, and motorcycle gatherings; so have your tweed jacket, beret, and leather chaps ready.
Other details:
Preston Petty cycle wings/fenders
Electronic ignition with Harley Davidson coil
Moto-Lita steering wheel
Original umbrella type gear change
Powder coated wheels
- Fuel gauge is inoperative.
- There is no hood, but bows are provided (side curtains are included)
- Grille badges and Nardi shift knob are NOT included.
The KG was recently treated to an engine oil change, gearbox oil change, valve adjustment, brake adjustment, and spark plug replacement. All import documentation, MoT papers, owners manuals, and other literature is included. I will personally deliver the car within a 200 mile radius of Richmond Virginia if the new owner will drive me to the nearest Amtrak station for the return trip.
Being a one-of-a-kind car, the KG does get its share of attention on the road and at car shows. On the other hand, the KG Owners'Club meets are quite lonely.
