An extremely original Ontario Orange 1972 Corvette Stingray convertible. The car retains the original block, heads, intake manifold, carburetor, exhaust manifolds, starter, transmission and differential. The VIN of the car is 1z67k2s502069 and car is equipped exactly as delivered new. Base motor, 4 speed, 3:36 posi and AC.All original documentation is included, including the original order sheet, window sticker, owners manual.
The car is registered in Texas and located in Austin Texas. It is garage kept and has been taken on short runs periodically to keep all mechanicals in good order. The miles are all actual and original. The paint is all original. It looks good from 20 foot in bright sun but up close not so much. The paint has many age related cracks from the original finish. The frame and bird cage are excellent. The car runs and drives like a 39,000 mile car. It starts easy and runs straight down the road with no shakes or rattles.The wiper door and headlights snap up and down and all the gauges work like they should. The glass and chrome are all original. The chrome is nice but lacks the shine of "new". The weatherstrip is good, not great.
I purchased this extremely original 1972 Corvette from a Corvette specialty dealer in Iowa. I am technically the 3rd owner. The original selling dealer, Du Teau Chevrolet of Lincoln, Nebraska, sold it to another dealer, Miracle Mile Motors, February 18th of 1972. Three weeks later in March of 1972, they sold the car to Barry and Annette Bayer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The dealer I purchased this car from bought it directly from Annette on July of 2023. I bought the car in October 2023.
Work done on the car in past 3 years include;
· Replacing the seat covers and foams
· Repairing the original radio and replacing the dash speakers
· Replacing all four brake calipers with stainless sleeved o-rings as well as the master cylinder
· Replacing both valve cover gaskets and restoring the covers with sandblasting and painting in original color.
· Replacing the AC compressor and servicing the AC system. It works great now.
· Replaced all four tires (less than 1000 miles since new), still on the original Rally rims. (the spare is still the original tire)
· Rebuilt the original distributor, replaced ignition components with new.
The negative things that I see are;
· As mentioned above, the original paint shows wear (micro cracks and patina)
· The top front edge of the drivers door main is down to the reinforcement.
· The soft top was replaced in the 90's. Except for a 1" slit on the left hand sail panel it's in great shape.
T The Rightside rear muffler has a 1" rust hole (see image)
This corvette is sold as-is. It is a 44 year old car and buyer should expect wear and tear of such an older vehicle. I have included as many images as possible. Please write with any questions or to arrange a look. Make sure you ask your questions and get the answers before you bid. I can assist with shipping.
