Sure, there are some obscure cars out there with a miniscule following that might check that box. However, the Torino Cobras are a main stream Muscle Car staple. To find one that runs & drives, hasn't had a telephone pole located around the transmission and still has the original floor pans at this price is a rarity these days. Obviously this one isn't ready for the Concours De Elegance, but the bones are there should you strive for that. Let's call this one what it is, this is a project. It runs well and even drives out pretty well. The brakes were serviced with a new master cylinder and wheel cylinders. The tires have very few miles and still haven't worn off the nubs. Hit the key and this one rumbles quickly to life with healthy oil pressure and a nice note to the exhaust. The transmission shifts properly and the car will easily turn both rear tires and a healthy scratch on the upshifts with minimal effort. For the most part, this one will need a cosmetic restoration. The car is pretty straight thankfully. The paint is old & flat so there is that. Body wise the main rust is in the trunk lip. This is a common spot but will need some attention. The floors and rockers which are typically the worst, are really not too bad. The cowl area, which is a common area on these to rust will need attention. Previous owner did some repair but it wasn't quality work. Again, see the pics and as always feel free to call and discuss. The driver's door shell is bad so we do have a pretty clean core door we are including. The interior is complete and with a little detail work could be quite presentable. Obviously there is wear but the rare bucket seats, cobra dash & door panels are still in place. The factory ribbon tach was removed due to it failing but reportedly good working used one is included with the car. The speedometer and temperature gauge work, the fuel gauge isn't currently working which is probably a faulty float.Under the hood the 429 is quite stock with the exception of the carburetor. While the engine is not the original numbers matching, the VIN stamping on the back of the block is only off by 1,014 cars making this one quite close date wise. The cylinder heads are the DOVE C and the intake is a DOVE A unit so it all lines up correctly. If you know anything about the 429's, you know the good ones have a certain whine with the RPM, this one has it.The rear differential is the 31 Spline Nodular unit and the Marti Report calls out a 3.50 ratio. The rear end appears all correct, see pic, and the tires both spin when asked. While the turn signals, headlights and brake lights work the fuse block is corroded and should be replaced. For transport we recommend Mike's Discount Auto Transport.
