1967 Chevrolet Camaro In 1964, Ford debuted their Mustang and the striking coupe design changed the automotive landscape forever. With the Mustang came a new classification known as “pony cars” and quickly the other American manufacturers began development on their own cars to compete in that segment. In September of 1966, Chevrolet unveiled the Camaro- with its more aggressive bodystyle and optional suite of Chevrolet V8s, the car became an immediate hit and remains one of the most sought after classic cars to this day. Since the Camaro’s debut in 1966, a very robust aftermarket has sprung up around them which offers tremendous tunability and gives owners the ability to tune their car to meet their exact needs. This 1967 Camaro coupe is finished in a classic shade of bright red and has been tweaked with numerous mechanical modifications over the years that have turned it into a quick and reliable example. Starting in 2010, the consignor began a comprehensive restoration on this car which started by stripping the car down to bare metal for a full re-spray in this beautiful shade of red. At this time, new trim, seals and glass were also sourced and installed to ensure that there was no aspect of the car that looked out of place. What makes this car particularly unique is that instead of following the resto-mod trend and installing big wheels and dropping the car to the ground, it was kept looking largely stock– sitting at its standard ride height and rolling on 15” Rallye wheels wrapped in a staggered set of BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Much like the exterior, the interior looks largely like it did when it left the factory but does benefit from some welcome upgrades. Up front, a pair of black bucket seats are separated by a console with a T-Handle shift lever. In front of the driver sits a Corvette-style 3-spoke steering wheel and behind that, a set of white backlit Phantom gauges keep track of the car’s vitals. In the glove compartment, a hidden Panasonic head unit has been installed and controls a remote 6-CD changer in the trunk while the whole system is powered by a JL amplifier. Powering this 1967 Camaro is a 327ci V8 that has been built up to give it more punch, while retaining the small block Chevy’s legendary reliability. Sitting on top of the engine is an Edelbrock throttle body fuel injection system which comes with an HP tablet that lets you tune the fuel trims and set up different maps for the ECU. Inside the engine is an Isky Mega Cam which gives the car that nice high lift sound and extra power, without being difficult to drive on the street. An MSD ignition guarantees a strong spark and tri-y headers send the exhaust out a custom stainless system through a set of Thrush mufflers. Power is sent through a 200-R4 4-speed automatic gearbox with an overdrive, and then out to a 10-Bolt rear end with a limited slip differential in the rear. Aesthetically under the hood, it looks fantastic with a combination of polished billet and chrome pieces, along with braided hoses and AN fittings. A quick ratio Z/28 steering box was installed with a 12:1 ratio and power assistance that makes the car feel more nimble and playful on a curvy road. If you have always wanted to put a proper American muscle car in your garage, there really isn’t a better option than a first generation Camaro. With its classic good looks, exciting driving dynamics and exceptional tunability, it is really a car that can do it all. This example is in fantastic condition inside and out and benefits from numerous modifications that mean you can just hop in on day one and start enjoying the car.
