1970 Ford Maverick Additional Info:
1970 Ford Maverick with Added Grabber Trim This is not your grandfather's economy car! OK, back in 1969, Ford needed a car to compete with the imported economy cars that had become very popular! They took the Ford Falcon Platform, gave it a Fastback Roofline, a long hood and a short deck and this is the result, A Ford Maverick! While most were small engine economy cars with 6-cylinder engines, other packages were eventually offered. In mid 1970, a Grabber Trim package was added. It included Special Graphics, a dual scoop domed hood, a spoiler and some other goodies. The following year a 302 CI V-8 was offered. It did not take long for many of the original econo-boxes, to now be powered by the much more robust engine. This Maverick pays tribute to those cars and then offers much, much, more! I cannot determine if the color of this car is Lime Gold Poly or Anti-Establish Mint, but either way, it is certainly a period and Ford correct color. Of course, the Stripes are the proper Satin Black, but in a nod to today's style all of the chrome and stainless trim was removed and painted in Hot Rod Black then re-installed. The interior is done in the original 70's style with new carpets, headliner and most all else replaced where needed, and it looks Very, Very Nice! Now for the FUN part! Power is provided by a 347 CI Stroker Engine that makes 375 Horsepower which in a car this petite and light, darn near makes it get airborne! The engine has KP Flat Top Pistons, Flowtech 180 CC Ported Aluminum Heads, Cometic Head Gaskets, MSD Ready to Run Distributor and Coil, MSD 6AL Ignition, a Brawler 650 Double Pump Carburetor, and Doug Thorley Ceramic Coated Headers exiting through a 2.5 Inch Exhaust System.. A rebuilt Ford C-4 Automatic Transmission with a B&M Quicksilver Shifter mates to an Aluminum Driveshaft onward to a 3.55 Limited Slip Ford 8 Inch Differential. An Aluminum Radiator with Electric Fan Keeps everything cool. White Lettered Tires on Gray and Polished 5 spoke Wheels complete the look! The odometer shows 93k miles and this car Starts, Runs, and Drives just as you would expect from such upgrades! If you are looking for a Restored, Fast and Fun Car to Cruise in that will turn heads everywhere it goes ant gets thumbs-up from all that see it, well then perhaps this IS the one for you! Don't wait too long, this one will not have to wait that long to find a new owner with all that you get in this package. If you have wanted a Unique and Cool Ride, this one certainly fits the bill!
