Titled as a 1956 Volkswagen, the approximate build date was around 1960. The only clue to the original builder is a 1965 parking sticker from Southern Illinois University. The car was put into storage around 1978 in a large concrete manufacturer`s building with a number of other vehicles from 1978 to 2013. The contents of the building and the company were sold at auction and some of the cars were put out by the road to sell. Picked up by a VW enthusiast and gotten road ready. Enjoyed pretty much as it came out of storage until 2018 when it was listed for sale by OldBug.com where I acquired it. The whole story is readily available on YouTube. I resurrected it by refurbing the mechanicals and electrical, most notable taking it from a 6volt system to 12 volt. New 5wide rims from Empi and Toyo tires with Atlas port-a-walls. Painted it blue to match my closeness to the beach and the car has had various stripe schemes over the years to match my mood. A true 20 footer the paint is starting to show its age, but it is driven daily and enjoyed. No trailer queen here. In its first year out it garnered many accolades including a trophy at Amelia Island for the "Car Most Likely to Appear in a Movie" in 2018, appearing later that year in ReinCARnation magazine where it received an 8 page spread. Another trophy soon followed for "Outstanding Car" in the Concours de Cancellation presented by Classic Motorsports magazine. The trophies and various advertising pieces will go with the car. The car has working headlights, taillights and brake lights and drives well. The car was recently featured on BaT, but did not meet reserve. The reserve has now been set at a reasonable amount for a car that is well known in the fiberglass specials of the fifty's genre world. If interested you have got to ask yourself where are you gonna find another one? Good luck and good bidding. Car must be paid for before pick up or delivery.
