In 1975 I started a British car shop in Ft. Lauderdale, one of the few who loved and serviced Rovers. A Yacht Captain bought this car new in California, drove it to Ft. Lauderdale in 1984, as the yacht was moved there.. I serviced the car unil1986, when the Yacht returned to California; he sold me the Rover. I had it one week, an Ex MG owner saw and fell in love with it and bought it. He drove it 20,000 miles, all over Central Florida, said it was the most reliable car he never owned, but the 11/1 compression caused pinging when high test disappeared. He installed a single carb 2000 engine with 9.5/1 compression, solving the problem.. The factory Brigade red faded, so as a surprise birthday present his brother took the car and gave him a $200 paint job.I don't know if he disowned his brother, but paint flaked off, he refused to drive the car and sold it back to me in 1991. I had acquired an inventory of NOS parts, including rubber glass seals from a closed Rover specialist, so began a several year restoration. All body panels were removed, stripped, steel was etch primed, Corlar primed, backs undercoated. All doo, and boot jambs were painted, Side glass replaced with Sundym, vent windows installed in rear doors. All brakes including rear calipers were rebuilt. most rubber replaced, an Excellant set of black seats from a 3500S installed .Headliner is very good, but carpets are average and should be replaced with wool. Boot or trunk is amazing; it still has original rubber and spare tire cover. Also, there is a custom made touring or wodden tool box sitting in the front, byfuel tank.in it are Two RARE srooS Bent rear radius arms, NOS, worth about $300. 200 radius arms are straight, designed for 165x14 tires. To use modern tires, and not rub the insides when you have passengers in the back seat or luggage in the boot, you should install these. Also, are a two Jacking rods. These fit in the jacking holes, and rest on jack stands, when doing repairs. I actually built this car to drive for the rest of my life, planning to do a light restoration every 10 years. In 1998, I drove the car to Key West, 90 miles from Cuba, see photos. The next 1999 photo was taken by the side gate of Donald Trump's Palm Beach mansion. He was not there. In 1999 BMW/Landrover North America requested to exhibet this car at the National Landrover Dealer's Convention in Cour D'Alene Idaho. The moved it by carrier, flew my Wife and I there, and put it in the Ballroom, where they displayed the Heritage of BMW, also British Motor Corporation, which they owned. They had an MGTD, MGTF, MGA, and Paddy Hopkirk's Mini that won the 1963 Monte Carlo Rally. The President of BMW sat in this car, and discussed styling cues they'd carried over to the new Rover 90. The official purpose of this event, to which no press was invited, was to showcase the Marques BMW owned to BMW dealers. Three Months later, BMW sold Landrover to Ford. I feel Ford Spies were there, and the real purpose was to show Ford they were not just buying Land Rover, but an entire British Heritage. This car and my attendance probably gained BMW Millions more from Ford, though Ford promptly unloaded MG and Rover. I will include the news letter article. In 2000, I simply washed the ca, drove it up to a large British car showin Lake Worth,Fl, near Palm Beach, and won a lovely glass trophy, which I will include. It was a third place, first and second went to fresh Very expensive totally detailed restorations Soon after, second and third gears failed, and the clutch master failed. Although engine, brakes and other mechanicals were fine, I was preparing to move my business, so parked the car inside, under a cover for 16 years There is a dent on the right rear fender (I'll include another fender),and a small dent in the left front fender; (I'd suggest just call Dentmaster for that). The car needs to have gearbox and clutch slave repaired (I'll include another of each), It needs the front pulley and fan bolted on, but otherwise needs the minor 10 year restoration I'd planned. Most work, including door jambs, do not need anything.I'd suggest calling Dupont Historical Division, buy some Brigade Red lacquer, hire a Master painter at least 60 years old, and do what I'd planned.. This is an exceptional car you should plan to keep for life. If you have bought a Rover that has rust or needs major restoration. just use it for parts, and buy this,.You'll always be thankful you bought this fine example, and for the work I've done, and the history. You will simply pick up on the legend where I left off. I'm selling this because I bought a series III XJ6 with AC, and will drive it the next 20 years. I would prefer to have the car picked up, but could arrange shipping to Miami or Ft Lauderdale for $500. Unlike most people,I am experienced at and will will ship overseas, and have a good international shipping agent I have used a long time, in Ft. Lauderdale, that ships in containers to England, Holland, Germany, some Scandinavian countries reasonably..The car has a Florida title, but I can title it in your your name, with a Florida title, using power of attorney for $200, even if you are not a Florida resident.I will not leave an open title, as I do not want to be legally responsible after it leaves. This may have advantages for shipping overseas. car is being sold As Is, as seen with no guarantees expressed or implied..A $500 deposit, non refundable must be paid to buy. This is a personal sale, I am not a dealer, but have thousands of English parts, including many Rover parts, I sell on my ebay store, Old English Motor Company. You may reach me at T. 1 954 524 JAGUAR, or C.1 954 524 7278.Thank you, James Dean... IMPORTANT.. The last 5 photos, all taken outdoors are Historical photos, showing the car from 1998 to 2000. All photos taken inside my barn in Sebring, which has poor lights, and steel wheels and hubcaps are current photos. ALSO, The car No longer has alloy wheels, they were sold.it has 5 STEEL Wheels. I presently have found two 3500S hubcaps, shown on the left side, and two 3500S hubcaps, shown on the right side, but should find 2 more of one or the other. ALSO, the car no longer has the Icelart, shown in the Historic photos. It was sold. Please contact me for questions or more details,
