1946 Bill Burke Belly Tank Streamliner Lakester Tribute

Stunning and period accurate FIRST of its kind Bill Burke Belly Tank. This tribute car was built toexactingstandards by a team of automotive professionals and belly tank historians. Bill Burke built the world's first belly tank streamliner in 1946 and it ran as “runner up” for top speed in its class three times, doing well enough to allow Burke to plan his next effort – a tank that would take top honors in 1949 as “The World’s Fastest Hot Rod.”

After the fourth run in 1946, the tank mysteriously disappeared, perhaps re-engineered or reconfigured in subsequent future tankers. Though dozens of other hot rodders built tanks after, the legend was already underway, Bill Burke would forever be known as the “Father of the Belly Tank Streamliner". In 2008, Bill Burke revealed in a series of interviews his desire to recreate his original belly tank streamliner.

A team of researchers, historians, and builders was assembled to collaborate with 90 year old Bill Burke and recreate this famous and long-lost tank. Careful study of Burke’s original photos, historical documents, and period equipment were applied to exacting detail using nearly 100% of the original specified Burke parts to build this one of a kind streamliner. The team finished in July, 2009, debuting the tanker at Speedweek in Bonneville, Utah. Josh Burke – grandson of Bill Burke made the inaugural run across the salt.

This unique piece of motorsports history is finished in stunning yellow and red colors with correct graphics and racing livery per Bill Burke's original specifications. The engine and driveline are complete and fully functional. The driving experience is like no other and can best be described by the man himself…”Shake, Rattle and Go” – Bill Burke
