1927 Other Makes Federal Fire Engine Restored w/Ford V8 Power. Small Size! VIDEO. Additional Info:
1927 Federal Fire Engine. Restored! Listed on behalf of the owner. Located near PORTLAND, OREGON. This Federal fire engine was purchased new in 1927 by the Tualatin, Oregon Fire Department. Sometime in the 1930's they replaced the original engine with a flathead Ford V8. With 85 horsepower, this was a huge improvement in speed and reliability. The truck remained with the Department until being sold in 1980 to the second owner, who performed a full restoration. Originally configured as a pumper, the apparatus was removed and seating installed in the rear of the truck for 9 persons (3 bench seats.) In addition to the driver and passenger up front and two persons standing on the platform at the rear, this truck will accomodate a total of 13 adults (or more children) for parades or rides around town. The second owner took several trips around Oregon with the truck, including one of several hundred miles with his family. Note that this truck has no speedometer or odometer, so current mileage is unknown. Geared for comfortable cruising speeds in the 45-55 mph range. It has always been reliable, starts easily, runs cool, shifts crisply and stops when it should! Purchased by the current owner in 2001, it has been enjoyed by his family for the past 15 years. It has always been maintained and is ready to go. His only reason for selling is to make room in the garage for another acquisition. The body is straight with excellent paint, and hand-painted striping and lettering. It is mechanically excellent today and runs and drives without fault. SEE VIDEO. Unlike many other fire engines, this is NOT overly huge and unmanageable to drive or store. Dimensions: Length: 17 feet, 2 inches. Height: 78" to top of windshield (which will fold lower.) Width: 71". Will fit through a standard-height home garage door and fit in a regular car-sized space. If you are looking for a truck that will be the center of attention wherever it goes, and would be a perfect advertising vehicle for your business or goodwill vehicle for your service group or fire department, this is it. The auction also includes a vintage leather fireman's helmet for the driver. Just in time for the summer parade season! A reasonable reserve has been placed on this truck in keeping with its quality. It could certainly not be restored today for the reserve price. Please bid accordingly. WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS, WORLDWIDE. Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
