1972 Trabant 601
Vech#3019667
This was a project car that I was hoping to get done but have run into time constraints. I already have another one and they are great. There is a huge friendly community you can join as an owner of one of these. www.trabantforums.com. All the help you need is available. Not going to go into the details of the East German car manufacturer, the Berlin Wall, what the body is made of (Duroplast) and the history… you can Google that or spend hours as I have on YouTube. I have a FB page you can visit that has pictures of this one as well as my green one. https://www.facebook.com/TrabantNewYork/
This one has been in the US for about 20 years. It was part of a car collection in South Carolina. One of two. The owner had them in a barn for about that long. As far as the rust…it is 98% rust free. The steel frame is in great shape for a Trabant. There is rust above the passenger door which was leaking causing the head liner to start coming off.

It has a US title from South Carolina
What I have completed on the car:
4 New Tires
Replaced the front breaks (valves and shoes) they still need to be bleed. I also have the valves and shoes for the rear breaks
Steering wheel replaced with original
Front seat covers
New battery
New fuel line and fuel valve
Painted Fuel tank
Painted floor
Removed 20 years of dust
What I know about the car that needs attention:
Car starts and drives (but it is not ready for the road) bring a trailer 12x6 foot is just right.
Transmission would eventually need new seals.
Headliner glued back up
Rear sill behind the back seat needs to be replaced. I have the piece that needs to be cut.
The seats are in ok condition. I cleaned them up and put covers on the front seats.
The three screw carburetor cap. One of the screws is stripped. Would need to be re-tapped or it functions with the clamp on it just fine.
If you import one you have at least $2000 in shipping, customs, and title transfer cost. Car sold as is. No warranty.
Good luck... happy bidding. Thank you. Priced to sell
