1942 HUDSON SUPER SIX SEDAN

HISTORY

The Hudson Motor Car Company was known for producing durable, well engineered but conservatively styled automobiles. The 1941 Hudson line featured a NEW body and fully independent front suspension with front and rear sway bars. They are the best handling cars of the period. The 1942 models are a bit rare as production was halted for the switch to war production in February 1942. The Super Six model featured a 212 cubic inch inline six referred to as a “3 by 5” because of the corresponding bore and stroke.

The 1942 Hudson Super Six Sedan featured in this auction is very early production. It lived its life as a car in eastern upstate New York. It must have been stored winters, as there is no rust through anywhere. The current mileage is 44,381. The mileage is listed as actual on the Indiana title in the Hudson Essex Terraplane Historical Society name. This car still sports the original paint! It is equipped with standard shift and Overdrive, a 4 5/9 rear axle, Oil Bath air cleaner, Heater and Directional signals. I am listing this vehicle for the Hudson Essex Terraplane Historical Society and all proceeds benefit the Society, A 501C3 Charitable trust!

CONDITION

This is a very nicely preserved original car. It runs and drives. It sports a freshly rebuilt engine and clutch. The engine starts instantly and is whisper quiet and the clutch smooth. The steering wheel, interior, woodgrain and Chrome are in nice condition! The interior is completely original. There is a bit of moth damage to the wool, but it is presentable. The paint and body have held up well, although detailing would buy this car a lot! There is surface rust on the lower body panels, but no rust through. All of the lights and Gauges work with the following exceptions. The Overdrive is inop, as are the horns, directional signals and brake lights. The trunk is loaded with many NOS parts saved for this car by the longtime owner. There is a nice new set of five Goodyear Diamond tread blackwall tires installed. I have driven this car and it has a whisper Quiet, Good Running 212 engine. It really runs Strong! The brakes are sticky and would require attention before the car is drivable on the road!

On Jul-28-18 at 07:47:10 PDT, seller added the following information:

  • I spoke to the gentleman that donated the car and he stated that the overdrive operated the last time he drove the car! The spare tire is not one of the new ones, but the original spare asthe flag in the Goodyear emblem is Blue and Yellow instead of Black! Very Cool!
