1971 Other Makes DIVCO Additional Info:
1971 DIVCO Milk Truck. Selling this Milk Truck because I bought another one that was recently restored. This Divco is in nice shape, runs and drives, and has the original powertrain still in it. I have only driven the Milk Truck about 20 miles in the last year, mostly around town (up to speeds of 40 mph). The engine is the original 4.9L straight six cylinder and a manual transmission. The engine still has the Ford Industrial Engine logo on the engine. Runs good down the road, but does load up when cold until it warms up (probably could use a carb rebuild). It is a sit down/stand up model, but I haven't gotten the hang of driving it standing up! The interior is in nice shape, and the doors to the back open and close just like when it was new. The refrigeration system is not with the truck anymore, and the large plates have been taken out of the rear box. The rear box is in nice shape inside.
The exterior has been restored at some time, before I purchased it. It has been repainted to the current yellow and blue with the Carolina Dairy painted on the side. On the rear of the truck it has the previous owners company named Chicken by Charles, and that is painted on also (not vinyl graphics). The side doors still fold in and out just fine, and the back doors close and lock also. The restoration is older and it does have some surface rust starting to show through a little bit in a couple of areas (see pictures). Not a perfect truck, but overall still looks good and can be driven and enjoyed the way it is (or you can do a full restoration on it if you would like). Still brings a lot of attention where ever we go. It is a Milk Truck and not a modern vehicle. You can't drive 20 mph around a corner or you will fall out of the swivel seat (unless you have the seat belt on)!!!
