1961 Other Makes Additional Info:
This is an Austin built model but they dropped that name a couple of years before this car was built and it is a Vanden Plas Princess Limousine. I found this in Oregon, it had sat in a garage for 7 years. I had it transported to the palm Springs area in southern California. It needed work. I had to have the gas tank cleaned out and the carburetor rebuilt. The exhaust system was really bad that has been rebuilt. The power steering system had a lot of leaks and that has all been rebuilt and working great. I have also had various seals replaced and the engine compartment cleaned up. It is a 12 volt system with two six volt batteries under the jump seats in the passenger compartment. This car is awesome and a blast to drive around town. It is a head turner and gets a lot of attention. It is a right hand drive and fun to drive. It has a hydraulic jack system that will lift the entire 5000 pound car completely off the ground. The tires are older but in great shape. I do feel they are a little out of round and I can get a bad vibration at higher speeds. I feel like the smart thing to do would be to change them and have the alignment checked. I think that would take care of any issues. Around town it is fine, not a freeway type car currently. Your probably wondering why I am selling it. I live in a desert and this car has no air conditioning. As much as I love it there is very little of the year that I can enjoy it. Thank you for your interest.
