This is a 2-seat all electric vehicle built in 1980in Sebring, Florida by Commuter Vehicles Inc. It was one of only about 2,500 produced. I have owned it for over 12 years. I bought it in high school to have as a project. At the time, I got it running, drove it to school a few times and in a few parades. In 2014, I switch from lead-acid to lithium batteries, added a battery management system(BMS), replaced the voltage controller with a pulse width modulation(PWM) controller, replaced all the high voltage wiring, and replaced all of the tires.
Since all the upgrades, I have occasionally used it to run errands (it has space for 4-6 grocery bags behind the seats) and attend events. It can travel 50 miles at 42MPH top speed.
Car is currently registered and insured in California. General reminder, this car is 37 years old. I have tried my hardest to have her age beautifully, but there are some items that still need some attention. The brakes work, but need regular checkups. One of the cells is starting to decrease in capacity and and will need to be replaced. The body has a few scratches and cracks typical of 37 year old ABS plastic.
