1948 Other Makes 509 Long Cab With 12 Foot Flat Bed Additional Info:
The rarest of the rare. My 509 Cab Diamond T Flatbed Dually Truck. A mostly original restoration (some nuts & bolts are obviously modern) of a super rare long cab model.
The cab is 4 inches longer than thesmall 200 & 300 series trucks, and the hood and engine compartment is about a foot longer giving this truck beautiful proportions, and a useable front seat. It does not have the risky 'suicide'multi piece wheels, which is a great confidence booster if you want to actually drive this.
Tires are excellent. Truck runs and drives as original and it is quite an experience to get behind the wheel. I used it recently to move one of my Jaguar projects. It has the 2 speed rear axle and all the underside components look and work fine. There are a few minor chips in the paint and currently the speedometer and the horns do not work. Otherwise it is good all around.
Dual crank out windshields and I added a rear view mirror as I find itreally strange driving without any mirrors. I bought vintage style doormirrors for it, but have not yet installed them. Doors and hood open and shut like new. Windows crank perfectly. Brightwork is generally excellent with minor signs of aging. Hood ornament is complete. Upholstery and carpet is like new. One crack in the steering wheel. Underside is clean and has no signs of ever beingcorroded. I suspect that this truck has spent most of its life in a private collection and the general condition reflects this. I bought it with plans to shorten it and put a pickup bed on it. I have been wrestling with myconscience with regards to modifying this lovely vehicle, but everyone I speak to has has a plan to change it into a car hauler or something else. So I have decided to sell it and go finish some of my other projects. I am sure I will regret it, as finding one of these in the first place was pure luck.
Hopefully I have given anaccurate and reasonably completedescription. Funds will have to be Bank transfer or Bank Check fully cleared before I will part with the truck or title. Florida Title is in my name. Ask all questions I will do my best to answer. Happy to work with your shipper. Buyer pays all shipping costs.
