Absolutely beautiful Interceptor and might I add, it's bad-ass to boot. These cars seem to have aged well and most folks agree they are quite handsome. You'll look long and hard to find another this nice. And triple black!
I don't have a lot of history on this car but I do know it was a west coast car (WA) prior to coming to Ohio in 4/2015 as shown on the Ohio title. The car was then treated to what appears as a bare metal repaint in it's original color and a general refurbishment of the interior. The leather upholstery is new as is much of the interior trimming. Hard to say exactly what is well kept original or has been replaced. This is only my second Interceptor so I'm still learning the details. But anyone can see (and smell the leather!) this is a fine interior. Pretty much all wood and leather. What could be nicer?
I was told it was essentially a rust free car when stripped, and I don't see any evidence of rust repair or body work. Very nice paint job that I'd say appears factory correct. Underneath the car still sports most of what I believe is the original factory undercoating. Everything is solid, some surface rust on exposed areas. But no rot did I see. That is crucial with these cars. Leaf springs still have their factory wrap with heavy coating. A great "survivor".
The air conditioning was just serviced, a few leaks fixed and a new expansion valve fitted. It now works and I can say I think everything on this car is now functioning. I still need to adjust the driver's window, window is working but gets jammed up going up from ill fitment, too much slop. Should not be hard to remedy, and I intend to. At that time I'll also replace the missing door lock knob which I have.
The chrome is all quite nice though there are signs of straightening in the right rear bumper. Pretty minor. The driver door rear view mirror has some light pitting. But overall the trim is very good. Body is straight.
The engine fires right up cold or hot, choke working as it should. No smoke. Sounds great. Transmission engages without issue, brakes stop sure and straight. Car steers well, not pulling to either side, feels tight. Drives well. Does not overheat and holds good oil pressure.
Top is new and the automatic mechanism is working fine. The rear windows retract as designed when the top is lowered. Pretty sweet.
That's the gest of it. A really nice Interceptor that would be a hit at any car lovers meet or in any ones collection. Oh, and I apologize the car needs a good bath, pretty dirty in these photos, but it was freezing outside when I took most of these.
