1968 TVR Vixen S2
This auction is for a very nice 1968 TVR Vixen S2. I purchased this car to basically tear it apart & turn it into a road course/track car, but having a one year old son & a four year old daughter, I drastically underestimated my free time to do that project so I’m putting it up for sale.
The fiberglass body is in very good shape, no massive cracks or chunks missing from the exterior. The interior cockpit & back area are in very good shape as well with no cracks or chunks missing. The bonnet flips open & closes easily. It appears to me as if it had a vinyl top to it judging on how there is no color on the roof line but that is a pure guess but I believe I’m correct on that.
The frame is solid, no rust issues at all. I did not pull the body off but I have no reason to believe that there are any issues. The wheels are in good shape as well with the tires being old but still like new with plenty of tread on them. The brake lines still have fluid in them, as does the reservoir but I did not try the pedal because I didn’t want to take the chance & freeze the front calipers or the rear drums. I did pull the wheels off & look at the calipers & the rear drums & they do look to be in good condition with surface rust on the front rotors. The suspension is solid. I drained the fuel tank but it will need thoroughly cleaned. The front windscreen is in very good shape with two minor chips in it. The side glass is in good shape as well but someone in the past put window tint on them but it is easily removed. The rear window was a plexiglass one when I purchased it & it had a crack in it, which became larger when I removed it. I do have the original rear window seal for it & I will seal the opening over well in order to ship the car. You can get new replacement plexiglass rear windows for these, that’s what I was planning on doing.
The electrical system is in working order amazingly. All exterior lights work with the exception of the reverse light in the back & the front left parking light as seen in the pictures. Headlight hi & low beam function works perfectly. All dash gauge lights work, indicator lights on the panel work, as does the radio light.
The engine does turn over & I was able to get it to fire. I did replace the fuel pump, coil, coil wire, points, condenser, rotor, cap, & ballast resistor. I also changed the oil filter & put new oil in the engine. I did not run fuel from the gas tank up to the fuel pump, I instead had a clean small fuel cell give fuel to the fuel pump to not take chance on dirt in the fuel line from the tank as well as the tank needing cleaned. I do have a new set of spark plugs for the engine too. The transmission does shift freely into the gears & clutch pedal has no issues. With the receipts I have for the car, it does show that one of the previous owners had the heads worked on to put bigger valves in.
The interior isn’t in too bad of shape. The driver’s seat does need a new cover on it. The headliner is not ripped & the dash is in very good shape with no rips or tears & still has its dark black look to it. The gauges are clear & as I said before the do light up. I would definitely put new carpet in it because, well, it’s pretty ugly.
I do have extra parts as well. An Autolite distributor with a C7 part number, one Lucas coil, a Delco coil, interior door handles, turn signal & high/low beam covers for the steering column, water pump, new fuel sending unit, original fuel pump, timing chain, brake master cylinder, the old valves/springs, & two chrome strips that I have no idea what their for. Also included is an intake manifold to install dual Weber side draft carbs to the engine. I do have a folder full of receipts for the previous owners as well as a detailed engine service manual.
This car is a unique & neat British sports car, I wish I just had to the time to actually do what I wanted to do to it. It won’t take a lot to get this thing back on the road, but it will make one great track car as well. I do have a lot more pictures of the car so if you would like to see more please message me. Sold as is. I will help with shipping if you need assistance. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours of auction close & full payment is due within 72 hours after auction close.
