1958 Berkeley SE 328 car project for restoration or parts. See photos for what is included. This car is in the San Diego CA area. This car has been inside a sealed San Diego California garage since the 1960s. NOTE: see condition description in this listing. Please contact me for an additional information. I would be happy to help.NOTE, the car has its original Bekeley ID plate with correct factory pop rivets on the firewall. The ID number is 1217. Engine number is listed as 9950, although the engine is missing. The family could not find a title, but the record of the car is no longer in the California DMV system.
I bought This Berkeley from the family of the uncle who passed away in the early 1970s during its restoration. It was locked and sealed in the garage until I purchased it recently.
The car is mounted on a substantial wooden dolly that supports the body and is on casters for moving. It appears that the previous owner had mostly finished the fiberglass body and had applied and sanded the gel coat to a smooth surface. . The steering rack is still in place as are the steering arms The suspension spring/shocks are included. The front suspension upper and lower control arms are still mounted. The rear independent upper and lower control arms and super structure are also included but not installed. A new fuel cell has been relocated from the engine compartment to the rear of the car. This was a common modification on Berkeleys for safety reasons and increased fuel capacity. The installation appears to be complete and includes a Bendix fuel pump and filler mechanism. The dash is missing the correct speedometer. The gauges installed are from a 1970 Honda N600 car. The original wiring harness is still in the car. The master cylinders are in the car. The gas pedal is not a stock Berkeley part. There are added aluminum support plates you can see on the pictures that are to strengthen the chassis structure. The windshield frame is missing the top part. I am guessing that the restorer wanted to have a new glass installed that was shorter for a more racing style. Original glass can be cut since it is flat. Also new glass is available from Berkeley parts sources.
NOTE: Many parts are available from Kip Motors in Texas and through the Berkeley Drivers Club in England.
