1957 Morgan 4/4 Two-Seater Roadster

Beautiful 1950s Morgan 4/4 Roadster with uprated 1970’s power plant! Ready to drive and enjoy! Strong 1600cc engine front disc brakes, ynchromesh gearbox, oni rear suspension, nd Weber carburetion! Fast and Fun!

1950 marked the last year of the 15 year old 4/4 and the introduction of a new replacement model, he +4. In addition to a new 2088cc engine based on the example in the Standard Vanguard, he new car rode on a reinforced 4/4 chassis that was four inches longer. The 4/4 was reintroduced as the younger brother to the +4 and the pair was produced side by side at the Morgan workshop in Malvern, orcestershire. The car received continuous improvements and minor cosmetic enhancements throughout its lifespan and ultimately 4,584 cars were built when production ended in 1961.

We are very excited to offer this 1957 Morgan 4/4 Roadster! Finished in a beautiful shade of Burgundy with Biscuit vinyl interior, his Morgan has the panache of a dedicated British 2-seater! This car is now equipped with a 1600cc Ford 711M GT motor. Date-coded to April 1972, his crossflow motor would have found use in hot-rodded Mark 1 or 2 Escorts, ark 2 or 3 Cortinas and Mark 1 or 2 Capris, s well as early 1970s Morgan 4/4s. These cars came standard with a Weber 32/36 DGV carburetor, hich is still in place and breathes through a high performance reusable filter. In addition to a four-speed manual transmission, his car also comes fitted with a finned valve cover, mm hi-temp plug wires, otorcraft distributor, ear-view mirror, river-side antenna and side-view mirror, ood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel, eater, ony AM/FM/Cassette radio with twin Panasonic T50 speakers, ide curtains, onneau cover and five 72-spoke wire wheels with Pneumant 165 SR 15 tires. The car will also come with a leather and copper mallet and wood-framed jack.

While many British cars from this era have been driven hard and put away wet, his Morgan shows plenty evidence of multiple loving owners. The car was built with the help of Libra Motive, hich helped supply parts to restore the car some time ago; the mileage is believed to have been since this was completed. In the same mindset as the uprated motor, he car was further fitted with fiberglass fenders from an early 1970s 4/4 and seats from a +8, ost likely to save weight while taking the car on scenic road rallies. The trunk, ood and doors remain aluminum. While the car is certainly an older restoration, t should not be discredited or called worn out! The exterior paint still holds a fantastic shine and the chrome also catches the sun quite well! The interior is also in very presentable condition, ith only the seats showing signs of creasing. Compared to the rather sluggish and slow-revving original Coventry Climax motor from the 1930s, he 1600cc Ford motor comes alive in the upper rev range and the car starts to dance at around 40 mph on curvy roads. After going for a drive, t is easy to see that the fun factor has been turned up a notch. And with the added reliability and parts supply of the Ford Kent motor, his car presents a very drivable investment! Please don’t hesitate to ask any additional questions or schedule a viewing! Thanks for looking!
