1972 Opel GT custom 2.4 Additional Info:
Up for sale is what I call a rare opportunity to buy an Opel GT that has in fact been totally restored, top to bottom. This is not just a repaint like most of the ads that you have seen on eBay and other websites. Those folks claim a fully restored car, but I would say that is stretching it pretty far. We are New Vintage Auto in Cookeville, TN 38501. We have been here for 10 years building some of the nations top Opel GT, Kadett, and Mantas. You can check out our website, Facebook, and call us about your project or more information concerning the car. What we have is a 1972 Opel GT that underwent a complete restoration in 2012-2014, and has been in a private collection since its delivery in 2016. We started with a pretty nice looking car, it was Plum Crazy Purple, and had a nice paint job, but a lot of details were missing such as the engine bay and undercarriage. The car was completely disassembled, sent out to be chemically stripped to bare metal, and phospho treatment applied. The engine bay was modified for the dual Webers, radiator, and other custom items prior to painting to make sure everything fit. Any rust repair or panels needing replacement were replaced, and welded in. The car is painted with a 2012 Mustang Yellow Blaze tri-coat paint, and it really shows in the sun.

No money was spared when building this car. The owner had more than double in my asking price invested in this car. He wanted the best, and I feel we delivered. Now you can own this car for less than what a full restoration would cost you, and you don't have the 2 year wait. I have a 100 pictures of this car, so I was limited on what I could show, but have detail pictures of behind the wheels, underneath, and such. I have posted a video on YouTube of just doing a walk-through, and underneath, and interior . Here are the YouTube links. https://youtu.be/afBjKHdwvtg https://youtu.be/9U5S6yCZH24 There is also an old one showing the electric power steering. It really works great, I can easily turn the wheel parked in a lot, with a few fingers. It is adjustable for sensitivity. The Webers really open this engine up and don't let the automatic fool you, this thing is a rocket. I am not a huge fan of the Auto transmission, but with the power this has, and the trans doesn't lag...it's pretty fun to drive. Also you can read about the full build on OpelGT.com by joining and following this build link https://www.opelgt.com/threads/opel-gt-restoration-taken-to-the-extreme-the-logbook-file.28118/ Now the car has been changed since this blog took place, and updated.
Now if you like everything about this car, but you are one that has to have a 5 speed, you are in luck. We build these cars all the time, we can locate the parts and do the conversion for you at an additional cost. For that matter, if there are other modifications you are interested in, we can do it. So for more information, Google New Vintage Auto in Cookeville. Our website is out of date and the top phone number is no longer, but is in our contact info the right number. Please keep calls from 8am-8pm Central time. Any day is fine. All of the parts purchased for this car came from Opel GT Source, and I have all receipts. Overseas buyers, we can help with arrangements to ship to a port.
