1972 Oldsmobile 442 Additional Info:
This 1972 Oldsmobile 442 convertible has been in my family since its purchase off the show room floor in 1972. All engine/drivetrain #'s match. In 2000 it underwent a restoration which included an engine rebuild, new fiberglass hood (original was the common steel faux louvered hood), new paint (original color), rechromed bumpers, new convertible top w/ glass, new exhaust, and overhauled brakes (power booster/master cylinder, pads, shoes). Tires are recent, less than 2000 miles, hubcaps same as when purchased in 1972 w/ Olds rocket emblem. The transmission is the original TH400 and has been without issue and still shifts smoothly. The original radio resides in the dash, but is not connected. It worked last time it was connected. The current audio system employs dual stereo speakers front and rear, in the original speaker mounts. The interior is NOT cut up for the sake of some ugly speakers. The 1/8" jack can accommodate phones, gps, etc. The car has been kept stock for maintaining the original feel and experience of driving the car, not for racing and not for a sound system competition. The car runs well, stops well, and looks great driving down the road. Onlookers will notify you of this.
With all else being said, there are flaws on the exterior that can only be seen very close up. This includes minor scratches in the clear coat, and a couple others that go deeper but are very small and hard to notice. The suspension is original and unmodified, and while rust is not a problem with this car, the suspension is just old and will probably need to be updated.
Odometer reads 15600, but has turned over once. Engine rebuilt at 00000.
For those who are unfamiliar, in 1972 Oldsmobile switched from having the 442 model back to a "442" package on the Cutlass. As such, genuine '72 442s will feature 442 badging on the exterior, but the glove box will feature a Cutlass Supreme emblem.
