HE DROVE IT IN THE CITY TO THE STORE ETC.PRIMARILY AND PARKED IT IN THE NORTH FOURTY,WITH SOME 100 MILE TRIPS.I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN IT ONCE OUTSIDE THE SHOP AREA TO SEE IF EVERYTHING WORKED. NON-SMOKER CAR STILL SMELLS RIGHT.TRIP METER DOES NOT WORK. THERE IS A SECTION OF THE TRUNK WEATHERSTRIPPING THAT HAS SEPARATED THAT I HAVE'NT YET REPLACED IT,BUT IS THE SAME TRUNK OPENING AS THE FOUR DOOR CARS.COMES WITH FACTORY OWNERS MANUAL AND A FACTORY (GM) SHOP MANUAL.THIS WAS A $17,000 CAR IN 1992 DOLLARS.

WITH GM AND THESE "S" ACHIEVACARSACCORDING TOTHEIRFACTORY SHOPMANUAL IN THIER VIN NO.S DECODING SECTION PAGE 0A-3;THERE IS NO DISTINCTION MADE BETWEEN S ACHIEVAS OTHER THAN THE ENGINESTHEY PUT INTO THEMAND THE BADGING/TRIM THEY PUT ONTHEM.ON THE SL (non hi-performance) CARS THE FIFTH DIGIT OF THE VIN. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE SWAY BARS WERE STANDARD ON THE SC THEY HAD TO BE ORDERED ON THE SCAND MAY HAVE BEEN STANDARD ON THE HIGHER OUTPUT ENGINE OPTION SCX.IT HAS BOTH FRONT AND REAR SWAY BARS. THE PARTIAL VIN. NO. STAMPED ON THE ENGINE BLOCKNEAR THE STARTERMATCHES/COINCIDES WITHTHE VIN. NUMBER PERIOD. FACTORY RECOMMENDED 91 OCTANE.

WHAT I KNOW FOR A FACT IS THIS CAR HAS THE QUAD 4 ENGINE AND HAS A RAM AIR SYSTE, IF YOU LOOK AT THE SMALL TUBE IN THE PHOTO IT IS A CONDUIT THAT EXTRACTS COLD AIR FROM OUTSIDE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT THROUGH AN OPENING IN THE RADIATOR CORE SUPPORT ALLOWINGCOLD AIR TOENTERJUST UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT (clever), HAS PLENTY OF POWER FOR WHAT IT IS, OMING FROM AN OWNER WHO AT THAT TIME DROVE A PICK-UP WITH A 390 IN IT . IT HAULED TWO BIG GUYS UPA 7%GRADE WITHOUT PINGING OR LAGGINGWHICH TAKES TORQUE WHICH PORTENDS A FAIR MODECUM OF H.P.AT THE TIME THE OWNER HAD NO REASON TO TRY AND IMPRESS ME BECAUSEAT THE TIME AS IT WAS HIS CAR AND HE WAS NOT TRYING TO SELL ME ON IT AND AT THE TIME I REALLY DID NOT KNOW OR CAREHOW MUCH HP IT HAD, LTHOUGH I DID OFFER TO HIM THAT WE COULD I COULDMAKE APROM AND DO EXHAUST WORK AND GET ANOTHER40 HP BUT HE SAID NO BECAUSE IT HAD POWER ENOUGH FOR HIM.

ACCORDING TO WIKIPEDIATHEY MADE A SMALL NUMBER OF1992AND THE 1993SCCARS PERIOD THAT HAD HIGHER HP NUMBERS THAN ANY OF THE CARS WITH QUAD 4 's THAT SUCCEDED THEM.IT IS SIGNIFICANT IN GM LINEAGE FOR SEVERAL REASONS, NE OF WHICH IT WAS GM'S FIRST FORAY INTOTHE BIG 2.3FOUR CYLINDER FOURVALVE HEMI HEAD DESIGN THAT WAS THE IMPETUS AND FORMAL PREDECESSORFOR THE VERY SUCCESSFUL AND VENERABLE SATURN SC2 1.9LDOHC H/OENGINES. HOWEVER, N MY OPINION AND THAT OF OTHER TECHNICIANS IN 1992 THESE CARS EQUIPPED WITH THIS ENGINEWERE NOT READY TO BE INTRODUCED AND HAD TOO MANY BUGS. SOEVEN THOUGH THESE CARS SO EQUIPPED FROM OLDSMOBILE WERE NOT CHEAP MANY OWNERS GOT RID OF THEIR CARS PREMATURELY, RSOME KEPT THEM AND WORKED OUT THE BUGS ONE AT A TIME. SO IT WAS WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER, HO LOVED THIS CAR ANDBROUGHT THIS CAR TO ME ON A REGULAR BASIS FOR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS. BELOW IS A LIST OF REPAIRS THAT I HAVE PERFORMED. I WILL HAVE UPLOADED A VIDEO SHOWING THIS CAR STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL DUAL MUFFLEREXHAUST SYSTEM THAT IS STILL IN GOOD SHAPE AND DOES NOT EVEN HAVE ANY RUST ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR BECAUSE SOUTHERN OREGON DOES NOT USE SALT THEY USE NON CORROSIVE CINDERS. THIS VEHICLE CAN EASILY BE MODIFIED TO ENHANCE ITS PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS EVEN MOREWITH DIFFERENT EXHAUST AND PROM COMPONENTS BUT THE BEAUTY WITH THIS CAR IS THAT THE BUYER WOULD BE THE ONE TO MAKE THAT DECISION WITH THIS VEHICLE.IT HAS NEVER BEEN MODIFED MUCH LESS PERFORMANCE WISE.I NEVER HAD A REASON TOPAY ATTENTION TO THE MILES ON THIS VEHICLE UNTIL I TOOK POSSESSION OF IT. ALL THE RESEARCH ICAN DO AT MY DMVINDICATES THEY ARE REAL.

IOWN A SERVICEFACILITY ANDI AND OTHERS HAVE MAINTAINED THIS CAR FOR OVER A DECADE.I HAD NO INTENTION OF OWNING OR BUYING THIS CAR, T WAS JUST ANOTHER JOB AND THE OWNER WAS A FANATIC THAT BOUGHT THIS CAR NOT RUNNING AND SPENT AN INSANE AMOUNT OF MONEY OVER THE PERIOD HE HAD IT ON MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS. IT HAS NEVERBEEN IN ACOLLISION THAT WE CAN ASCERTAINBUT HAS BEEN REPAINTED, HE HOOD WAS REPLACED BY US AND I BELIEVE A FENDER (reason unknownto us). PAINTING WAS LIKELY NECESSARYAS FAR AS HERE AND THERE BECAUSE THE OWNER WAS OLD,WORE CORRECTIVE EYEWEAR ANDDIDN'T HAVE THE BEST DEPTH PERCEPTION IN LOW SPEED PARKING/BACKING SITUATIONS. THEY DID A PRETTY GOOD JOB,AS THEYCHARGED HIM ENOUGH. NO $50,000 RESTORATION HERE,BUT GOOD WORK FOR STREET/ SHOW. HE MET A LADY FRIEND AND SHE TOOK THE ACHIEVAS PLACEFOR HIS ATTENTIONAND HE OFFERED IT TO ME ON THE SPOT FOR A PRICEI COULD NOT REFUSE,BECAUSE HE WANTED A NEWEXPLORER.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS WORTH BECAUSE THERE ARE NOT THAT MANY OUT THERE IN THE MARKETPLACE OF THIS CONFIGURATION/CALIBER, ather most that are, re in someone's backyard, recked or in pieces,IF THIS CAR WAS OTHER THAN AN SC, UCH AS AN SL, nbsp;IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN EQUIPPED AS SUCH ACCORDING TO ALL THE RESEARCH INFORMATION AVAILABLE.THIS CAR WAS A SALES PROMOTIONAL VERSION AND AS SUCHOFFERS A LOT OF TRANSPORTATION VALUE FOR THE MONEY. JUST AS AN EVERYDAY CARAS IT ISWITH ALLTHEALIKE LOOKING UGLY BOXYECONOMY VEHICLESTHAT YOU CANMAKE PAYMENTS ON TODAY (that won't be worth anything in a few years). PRETTY HIGH TECH FOR GM IN 92 FOR A LITTLE MORE POWER, UTOLDS DIVISIONWANTED TO MAKE A STATEMENT WITH THIS PACKAGE/CAR AND THE DRAG RACING SPONSORSHIP THEY DID AT THIS TIME (see the pin pictured).
