DESCRIPTION:

1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass S 442 running a numbers matching 350 cu in V8 rated at 200 horsepower. The history of the car is limited and apparently the prior owner did a “frame-on” build which included a color change to the exterior, interior, added a vinyl top, rebuild of the engine, and transmission. Since there is no build sheet or window sticker verifying the car as a real 442 is difficult, it does appear to have many of the options which were available then.

The repaint in Sunfire Yellow shows well and looks like a 2-stage urethane enamel. There doesn't seem to be any rust or bubbling on the body or under the vinyl top. It is not known if any of the body panels were replaced. The floors, frame, and undercarriage look excellent without any holes or rust. There are a couple of chips (please view all photos carefully).

All the exterior chrome is in excellent condition. The tinted glass is in good shape too.

The 350 cu. in. Oldsmobile V8 retains an original style Rochester 4-barrel carburetor and the sale includes an extra one which is new. The original points type of ignition is still used, but a new HEI unit is included too. Recently, 4 new Cobra 235/60R/14 radial tires were added. The exhaust system is new including the mufflers and chrome “trumpet tips”. The Olds starts and runs smoothly without any overheating issues. See video.

The gas tank was replaced and new lines were installed.

The black interior looks like it is in good condition including new carpeting. The only exception is a ‘button pop’ on the driver’s side of the front seat. Otherwise, there are no tears or broken seams. Headliner looks good and even the dome light works. An aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette player was installed with 4-speaker stereo.

The suspension appears to have been totally rebuilt with polyurethane bushings on the sway bar, new brake system including lines and master cylinder, power steering was rebuilt, new springs and shocks.

If you are looking for a great driver to attend local shows or taking it on a long cruise, this Cutlass 442 fits the bill.
