'63 Olds Jetfire!
Recently rescued from a 35-year back yard slumber, this Jetfire would be a great candidate for restoration or resto-mod. While the car is very straight with some minor visible rust, the original turbocharged 215 aluminum V8 was removed years ago and the previous caretaker lost track of it. The interior is complete except for the center console. The intense New Mexico sun is not kind to vinyl interiors, and has taken its toll as seen in the pictures.
This Jetfire seems to be a "mystery car", due to several factors; although it has a factory column shift, there is a manual transmission clutch & brake pedal bracket installed, (minus the clutch pedal) which also appears to be from the factory. The car has a Roto-Hydramatic transmission, with the ID code tag indicating it is for a 1963 F-85. My guess is that a previous owner replaced the turbocharged engine for a standard carbureted unit, which apparently some owners back in the day opted to do as the turbo fluid injection system could be rather moody, according to automotive history sources.
According to the cowl tag, the car was built at the Southgate California plant during the 2nd week of November, 1963, painted triple black (AAA) with a white vinyl interior. All of the trim is with the car, with the exception of one letter "O" for the trunk.
There is some rust in the driver's floor area, as well as in the lower left rear quarter panel.
The car was repainted a light metallic blue at some point, with other sanding/primering on the hood. All glass is in great condition except the windshield, which is cracked.
The car has been sitting outside under elm trees in northwest New Mexico since the early 1990s or so. What you see is what you get. Questions are welcome; I want you to be happy with your purchase! I'll be glad to take more photos/videos if needed. Clear New Mexico title in hand. Located near Farmington, New Mexico, 87401 approximately 50 miles south of the Colorado border.
