1971 Cutlass Supreme Convertible For consignment, a numbers matching, title verified 46,792 actual mile 1971 Cutlass Supreme convertible. A Supreme in green that's always been garaged and has a long list of NOS parts added. NOS means "new old stock" which are essentially factory parts, often still in the box, that have never been used. They're more desirable than "knock off" parts produced in the aftermarket, are often rare, and often command high dollars because of it. The car also comes with a lot of original paperwork, manuals, and the Protect-O-Plate. Exterior Lime Green coats this car in gleaming coverage and the 14-inch Olds Super Stock II wheel inners are painted to match. The grille, chrome bumpers, headlight bezels, and other metal work around the car is in fantastic condition and much of it has been replaced with NOS parts during the consignor's past 30 years of ownership. The black canvas convertible top and its glass window also show very well and the car looks great top up or top down. Color matched sport mirrors are on both sides and the stacked taillights are pleasantly simple and top the muscular tail. The only imperfection is a slight mismatch on the paint noted on the driver's side door, fender, and hood. There's also a tiny chip on the door barely noticeable. Interior The door panels have some newer parts according to our consignor including the door handle, window cranks and armrest. The wood applique panels are in great shape and created a cohesive line of walnut that extends onto the dash. The front split bench seats are done in black vinyl with armrests and headrests included. The driver's seat shows minimal wear and the rest, including the rear bench, is in very nice condition. We love the courtesy light integrated in the forward corner of the back panel armrest. A 4-spoke sport steering wheel shares the column with the automatic shifter and to the left of the column we note a power switch for the top. A trio of black faced gauges make up the center cluster including a restored Rally Pac tachometer and quartz converted clock, all nestled in that warm wood. A replica AM/FM radio is in place and the black loop style carpet is clean. The trunk is covered with an Oldsmobile rubber mat and contains a fully green painted spare wheel with no tire. Drivetrain Incredibly, the original, matching numbers 350ci Rocket V8 is at home in the bay and is fueled by a date-correct 4-barrel Rochester Quadrajet, replacing the original 2-barrel unit. The transmission is also number matching and is a TH350 3-speed automatic sending power to the rear 10-bolt axle with 2.56 gears. The engine bay is show worthy and clean with gold valve covers and a shiny brake booster. Beyond that, there are too many items replaced with NOS parts under the hood to list here, so we would encourage you to contact the mall and talk to a specialist who can pull up the list. Meanwhile, power drum brakes are found front and rear. Undercarriage It's clean and tidy underneath with the exception of typical surface rust covering the frame, driveshaft, and other parts. The gas tank is sparkling and so is the dual exhaust which starts at manifolds and extends under the car meeting a pair of stock style mufflers, then opening up before the rear bumper. Lots of NOS under here as well including the control arms on the independent suspension is in front with coil springs while a 4 link with coils are out back. Drive-Ability A 46k mile car with lots of new parts, a great maintenance record, and careful stewardship leads to a pleasurable driving experience on our test loop. The car has good power and accelerates well, is fine around wide turns, stops well, and sounds terrific. Everything is functional and tight. Numbers matching, low mileage, a drop top, new parts, and a long list of documentation and literature that comes along with the car.
