1955 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight Holiday Detroit Custom Additional Info:
Vehicle Original VIN : 557T13084
The 1955 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday Hardtop is from an era of awesome cruisers, but this one knows how to be a stand out among the custom car standouts. With shimmering paint, a sleeker stance, a full custom interior, and a triple-deuce V8 under the hood, you're looking at one of the most distinct cruisers with a one-of-a-kind style.
We love what this car represents. We're told that this was recently in the possession of a long-term owner (nearly 25 years) who transformed this in 2012 into something truly special. He was a Detroit area enthusiast who made this hardtop a true custom using the best features we saw back in the day. What does that all mean? It's an extra sleek full custom build that took all the best elements of Motown and California customs. So if you know what "Woodwarding" is, then you know why this is awesome from every angle. Laguna Green paint has a ton of metallic element in it. So when you take this one out in the sunshine, it not only radiates, but it also highlights the quality of the sheet metal. And the flat front on the hood is a terrific way to showcase both the ghost flames and custom pinstriping by Marks. And they added a ton more custom details, like the shaved door handles, dual spotlights, faux lake pipes, frenched dual aerials, and Jimmy Jones-style fender skirts. Plus, the brightwork is awesome everywhere, including the custom grille, chrome bumpers, cat-eye headlights, and distinct side trim. The total package creates the ideal mix of iconic history and unique style.
The interior is just as much about comfort as it is about distinction. It's a beautiful full sea of green and white. This is especially thoughtful on the seats that have textured inserts and green piping. Even the door panels have this same pattern. And everything from the plush green carpeting to the pinstriping on the dash tells you they took extra time and care with this one. So you'll love taking down all the windows on this pillarless hardtop just to showcase the full package. And because part of cruising requires the best music, they even integrated a modern AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input behind the classic Olds tissue box.
There are nice polished components under the hood, but what you're really going to take note of are the three polished air filters. They are the unmistakable look of tri-power, and we're even told the system was rebuilt within the last few months. This triple set of dual-barrel Rochester carburetors are sitting on top of a classic 1966 Corvette 327ci motor. So this has the right looks and history of a true custom cruiser. That's why you have features like power steering, power brakes, front discs, and a three-speed automatic transmission for a solid boulevard machine.
The sale comes complete with build receipts and restoration photos. This is the complete custom that has been thoroughly and thoughtfully built. We're even told this was a top 50 car at the Detroit Autorama. So if you love a custom that was built with pride in its history, call today!
