1958 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight Deluxe Additional Info:
Project Car that is 99% complete. Catches eyes every time its out of storage. Deluxe chrome trim on doors and windows. 371 V8. Been in storage for several years after I bought the car from Texas. Sill has Texas Title. Car is solid project car, I drove it around the neighborhood at slow speed when I picked it up in Texas before loading it. Then I put in in storage for "some day". Just admitting I do NOT have time to finish it. Already sold several and have another 1958 Olds 88 in my garage in process. The car is VERY complete and rolls easily for loading. Was Running from gas can to fuel pump 2 years ago and moved under its own power, but has NO brakes. All of the glass is also available in reproduction modern tinted safety glass. I can help in loading car for the buyer. My shop is easy access for any car hauler or transport truck. Could possibly deliver within a 200 mile radius of St. Louis, MO for a reasonable fee. Keep in mind MY Chevy 454 car hauler gets 9 mpg. Thinning out projects from the inside storage facility. This 88 needs to go to someone with the time to finish it correctly. Ask questions quickly so I can get answers back to you. Its a nice solid project car. If you are expecting to fire it up and drive home, this is NOT the car for you. Would make a great Father/Son project over the winter.Car does need to be paid for before leaving. Can store for a few weeks after check clears so you can arrange shipping. If you have less than 10 transaction or below at 95% rating contact me before bidding.I have a good rating on eBay and plan to keep it that way.Was Asked if a 455 Oldsmobile engine will fit into the 1958 olds engine area?YES a 455 Olds will fit nicely. I pulled a 425 from a 69 Toronado which is the exact same block. Put the 425 in my other 1958 Olds 4 door. The 425 was just the generation before 455. You cannot tell them apart externally. I welded custom motor mounts to the frame and used stock Olds exhaust manifold for a W Olds 442. Those are easy to find. The motor sits about 3/4 of an inch off center to passenger side to clear the steering box, but it fits just beautiful. A Turbo 400 tranny fits to the factory cross member with a slightly modified transmission bracket. Do NOT need to modify the trans cross member.
Go online and search this. There is a guy out there i looked at 5-6 years ago that posted step-by-step overview on how he put a 455 in his 1958 Olds.
It's actually NOT that difficult.
