1949 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight 88 Additional Info:
Excellent example of an extremely low mile gorgeous 1949 Oldsmobile 88 Futuramic!
First year of the high powered "Rocket 88" motor! See start up video here -https://youtu.be/E3Z97uQQtTc
Large collector is downsizing and finally letting this one go. He's owned it since 2003, when it had already undergone restoration, including: leather seats, trunk, and engine detail. Upgraded to 12V electrical to make it more drive-able, it's been lovingly maintained ever since. Garaged, covered, and started weekly, it runs and drives great! Interior condition is excellent, exterior paint is beautiful. Current registration and safety check, some receipts available.

Some background: Oldsmobile introduced the 88 badge in 1949. The new car used the same new Futuramic B-body platform as the straight-6 engine 76 but was paired with the powerful new Rocket V8 engine. The combination of a relatively small light body and large, powerful engine made it widely considered to be the first muscle car. The Rocket 88 vaulted Oldsmobile from a somewhat staid, conservative car to a performer that became the one to beat on the NASCAR circuits, and inspired the song, "Rocket 88".
The 1949 model was equipped with an ignition key and a starter push-button to engage the starter. Pushing the starter button would engage the starter, but if the ignition key was not inserted, unlocking the ignition, the car would not start. The car was equipped with an oil bath air cleaner. At the bottom edge of the front fender directly behind the front wheel was a badge that said "Futuramic" which identified an Oldsmobile approach to simplified driving, and the presence of an automatic transmission.
Yes, the mileage is an eye boggling documented 33,600 miles! You will not find any nicer, this car needs to go to a good home who will continue to care for it.
Car was a California car, but is now here in Honolulu. Car is sold as is where is. Shipping is available from several sources and is under $1000 to California. For example:https://www.matson.com/car-shipping-rates-and-payment.html
