1990 Oldsmobile Toronado Black Leather Additional Info:
Here we have a poor neglected waif needing a new home. It ought to make a great and fairly rare daily driver or an easy restoration project for someone who knows what they're doing, as the car is certainly complete. The mileage is accurate and genuine from our knowledge of the car dating back many years.
We inherited this car from our long time friend and family lawyer who recently passed away after a long illness, believing that the car had been properly stored in a protected area for some years. It turned out that this was not the case and she had been partially exposed to the elements for a few years. Hence, there is some fading across the majority of the paint and parts of the clearcoat are peeling; the worst area being the driver's side fender and the trunk lid. Had we considered keeping the car, we'd do a full respray, but this may not be necessary if it is destined to be a daily driver or a non-show car. The leather interior somehow escaped sun damage; maybe the car cover was put inside the vehicle instead of over it?
We had the car collected and shipped to us, whereupon hubby drained and flushed the fuel system, performed an oil and filter service, replaced the battery and got her fired right up in short order. She starts, idles, revs, stops, shifts, etc. Operating temperatures, charging and oil pressure are exactly as per factory specs. We know for certain that, prior to being stored in 2015, the car had been serviced on a regular basis. However, it seems that the lower (spoiler mounted) driving lights do not work, which might be nothing more than a simple matter of a bad fuse, connection or relay.
We own another two of these cars (both bought new), which is actually why our late friend asked us to seek out this one for purchase many years ago. She is a non-moonroof car (so zero leaks!) but IS equipped with the much sought after VIC (Video Information Center) color display with touch screen. This latter feature was an expensive option when new and was pretty hi-tech stuff for its day; by all means research it on the web for some idea of all the functions it offers, or get in touch with us for more info. The display remains clear and bright, and all functions work as they should.
There are some additional issues we're aware of which include a non-op factory AC Delco CD player and low A/C refrigerant (it would probably be a smart move to convert it to R134a at this time anyway; this is a simple process). The dash top surface has developed a few cracks and one A-pillar pad has come loose (hubby will reattach it if he has time). These flaws are not uncommon for any used car which is 30 years old, but disappointing on this one because it was in such great condition, even just prior to it being stored. What looks like dirt in the engine bay is actually a rust preventative similar to Ziebart.
Potential buyers are invited to make their own detailed inspection at any mutually agreed time.
The title is clean and in my name, so there are zero complications from that perspective. Sold as is, where is, no warranties expressed or implied. Please ask for any additional photos as needed; other questions are welcome.
Please note that we are also in the process of reducing our private car collection; we are not looking for any trades, nor are we willing to finance any vehicle purchase, including this one.
